The White House Correspondents' Dinner took place in Washington DC last night. A roster of Hollywood stars kicked things off Friday night. Downton Abbey met Mad Men when Michelle Dockery and Jessica Paré made the rounds at The New Yorker's party. And last night, stars Amy Poehler, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Olivia Wilde, Jason Sudeikis, and more got together for drinks before the big dinner. The 2013 SAG Awards are here and the celebrities are just getting warmed up with their tearful acceptance speeches and cute presenter banter. Anne Hathaway added another award to her collection when she scooped up the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role. During her speech, Anne started to tear up as she thanked her mother, who is also an actress, for inspiring her and hopefully giving Anne some support on the award ballot. She said, "Thanks mom for voting me, or at least she better have!" Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey both won awards for their final seasons of 30 Rock, with the latter thanking her friend and Golden Globes cohost, Amy Poehler, for giving birth to Lena Dunham. Ben Affleck took home another big win when he and the cast of Argo won outstanding performance from an ensemble in a motion picture.
Other highlights included Jennifer Lawrence winning outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role for Silver Linings Playbook, marking her first SAG Award win. Dick Van Dyke graciously accepted his lifetime achievement award while thanking all of the actors in the room for taking acting to another level. Claire Danes celebrated her new mom status when she accepted the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series, telling the audience that it not only takes a village to raise a child but also to put together a TV show. The cast of Downton Abbey took home one of the biggest surprises of the night when they won outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series, beating out Homeland and Mad Men for the win. Some of the stars from our favorite imported British TV show Downton Abbey swapped their onscreen 1920s garb for modern wear at the SAG Awards on Sunday night. Michelle Dockery, Sophie McShera, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, and Amy Nuttall were looking glamorous on the red carpet, at the show, and in the press room after winning their very first SAG for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. In fact, Michelle told a funny story in the press room about when some fans saw her and her costar out: "The two of us were in jeans and leather jackets, and they could barely look at us. It's official: we've spotted the not-so-basic black dress trend at not one, not two, but three award shows so far. We first noticed it at the Critics' Choice Awards, then saw it crop up again at the Golden Globes, and now Claire Danes, Anne Hathaway, and Michelle Dockery (just to name a few) are opting for reinvented and reimagined black gowns at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. We're talking about dresses with sexy sheer cutouts, high-shine embellishments, and strategically placed ruffles. If there's one thing we can take away, it's that 2013 is the year we may take a second look at our go-to black dress in the back of our closets — it's time for an update.

The Downton Abbey actress is up for one of the night's big awards, outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series, for which she will face off against Claire Danes, Jessica Lange, Julianna Margulies, and her costar Maggie Smith to earn the honor. Michelle and her Downton Abbey costars are also nominated for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. This mark's Michelle's first SAG Awards ceremony and her first time ever being nominated by the Screen Actors Guild.
What do Downton Abbey's Lady Mary Crawley, The Vampire Diaries' Elena Gilbert, and Revenge's resident scheming social climber Ashley Davenport have in common? They — or at least their real-life actress counterparts — were all in attendance at Entertainment Weekly's Pre-SAG Party in LA on Saturday night. Michelle Dockery, Nina Dobrev, and Ashley Madekwe were joined by other small-screen award-season fixtures like Naya Rivera and Jordana Brewster for the evening's festivities. The ladies turned out a fun mix of colorfully printed dresses and one sleeker formfitting number. Nina channeled a breezy Summer vibe in her watercolor-printed Matthew Williamson strapless maxi dress, only to finish off the look with an equally easygoing hairdo and Elie Saab clutch. Meanwhile, the prints kept going by way of Michelle's halter-style, fishtail-hemmed Peter Pilotto cocktail dress, Ashley's cap-sleeved Monique Lhuillier number, and Jordana's black-and-white floor-length gown. And just when you think you're noticing a patterned trend (and you'd be spot on), Naya showed off her enviable figure in an strapless, ink-hued leather Monique Lhuillier dress and nude pumps. Nina Dobrev wore Matthew Williamson on the carpet at last night's Entertainment Weekly pre-SAG Awards party in LA. She was joined by many other small-screen award-season regulars, including Downton Abbey's Lady Mary Crawley, aka Michelle Dockery and Revenge's Ashley Madekwe. Ashley made the rounds in an embellished dress from Monique Lhullier, and Michelle looked lovely in Peter Pilotto.
