Today Arizona shooter Jared Loughner's ex-girlfriend, Kelsey Hawkes, spoke out, but now two very different stories are spreading. A Daily Mail interview quotes her saying their breakup, six years ago, was the start of his mental spiral downward.

"Something changed in him, he was not the same person when I told him it was over . . . I remember his face clearly — he just looked like he had nothing to live for . . . Jared was a normal person. It all stopped when we broke up."

This article is quoted on MSNBC, the New York Post, and numerous other outlets, yet nothing about it seems accurate if you watch the above interview from CBS's Early Show today. She sounds as surprised, shocked, and horrified as everyone else. "Back then he was completely different of a person," she says, "very caring, very gentle, very sweet, kind, a little quiet, but altogether pretty great guy." While she admits she's heard no good news about him in the last five years, she never once indicates, even infers, their breakup was a catalyst for his personality change.

Ben Affleck and Chris O'Donnell crossed paths this morning at The Early Show studios in NYC. The guys have known each other since the '90s, when they shared the big screen in School Ties. Ben got a head start on the interviewing with a previous stop at The Today Show, where he chatted about his movie The Town — check out his appearance after the jump. He's back in the States after a trip to Canada, where he and wife Jennifer Garner chilled with his costars in the movie at the Toronto Film Festival premiere. Jake Gyllenhaal was out for another morning interview today at The Early Show. He's back in NYC after a quick trip to Toronto, where he did more press for The Prince of Persia before its release tomorrow. He opened up this morning about the joys of having his own action figure, though he still doesn't take himself too seriously. He was, though, completely dedicated to the workout routine that helped him achieve killer abs. Sarah Jessica Parker was up this morning for a stop by The Early Show. She's out and about talking up Sex and the City 2 before its release next week — we caught up with her at a press conference over the weekend, where she discussed her character Carrie Bradshaw's latest endeavors and accidentally spilled the beans on the gastrointestinal issues Kristin Davis endured while filming in Morocco. Their new movie is sure to include all sorts of great outfits that keep with Charlotte's preppy past, Carrie's eclectic wardrobe, and more, even if they aren't all recession friendly. Jennifer Garner kicked off work on the set of Butter in LA this week, and today she popped up on the East Coast for a morning of shopping and chatting. Talk focused mainly on charitable work but she did share a few secrets about Ben and her ideal Mother's Day — check out the video after the break! Keri Russell was out and about this morning in NYC to film a spot for The Early Show. She's making the rounds to promote her forthcoming movie Extraordinary Measures, which also stars Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford. We caught up with Harrison at a recent even in San Francisco, where he opened up about all the fun the trio had on set. Keri, meanwhile, spoke today about bringing the true story to the big screen, as well as her 2-year-old son River and her plans to have a second child with her husband Shane — check out the video below.
