Iron Man's not the only Avenger who's coming back to theaters this year — Thor (Chris Hemsworth) returns to the big screen in November, and he's got quite a lot on his plate. His first priority is coming back to Earth for Jane (Natalie Portman), his girlfriend, whom he plucks out of London right in the middle of a science experiment. Odin isn't exactly safe for a human, though, because there's a new bad guy in town named Malekith who has an entire army of Dark Elves. So whom does Thor turn to? Why, his deranged brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who is now locked up (and hasn't seemed to have washed his hair).

I loved the lighter, sillier tone of the original Thor movie (compared to, say, Captain America), but the trailer isn't exactly packed with jokes — though I guess that's to be expected when the word "dark" is right there in the title. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing what develops in Thor's action-packed next chapter come Nov. 8. Watch the trailer after the jump.

Chris Hemsworth is both brawny and funny in 2011's Thor, and though it was fun to see him as the character in The Avengers, I'm even more excited to see him return in the sequel, Thor: The Dark World (and reunite with Natalie Portman!).

Chris Hemsworth is both brawny and funny in 2011's Thor, and though it was fun to see him as the character in The Avengers, I'm even more excited to see him return in the sequel, Thor: The Dark World (and reunite with Natalie Portman!). In the first poster for the film, Hemsworth is back as the intergalactic hero, hammer in hand and hair a-flowin'. Natalie Portman was on the London set of the Thor sequel, called Thor: The Dark World, today.

Natalie Portman was on the London set of the Thor sequel, called Thor: The Dark World, today. Her leading man in the franchise, Chris Hemsworth, has been spotted in costume wielding his famous hammer this week too. Work on the action movie comes after Natalie spent time shooting opposite Michael Fassbender in Austin. The project with Michael required that Natalie Portman go blond, but she's now back to her natural brunette hair. Natalie's thrown herself into new endeavors this year, also working with Christian Bale on Knight of Cups.

There's going to be a long wait before the next Avengers movie, but rest assured we'll still get to spend some time with the superheroes — in individual doses that is.

There's going to be a long wait before the next Avengers movie, but rest assured we'll still get to spend some time with the superheroes — in individual doses that is. Chris Hemsworth is already hard at work on the sequel to Thor, which has been recently titled Thor: The Dark World. Filming is happening overseas in England, where Hemsworth was spotted on set alongside his stunt double and costar Jaimie Alexander (who will be reprising her role as Sif). There's not much in the way of spoilers here other than the fact that Thor is taking down the bad guys as usual, but who doesn't love to see a suited-up Hemsworth?
