5 Ways to Still Pamper Yourself Without Going Broke!

Saving money is on all our minds right now, but if you're like me, the temptation to splurge keeps growing and growing. To help you tame that urge, I'm here to give you some ideas on how you can still pamper yourself, while pinching pennies at the same time. Check them out below:

  • If you want to treat yourself to a new top or a new pair of jeans, shop online instead of at your local boutique. Most online stores offer free shipping, full credit refunds, and many sites don't charge sales tax.
  • If manicures and pedicures were once part of your monthly routine, you don't necessarily have to forget about them altogether. Instead of dropping $30-plus every time you head to the salon, opt for a polish change (which is less than half the price of a full fledged mani/pedi) instead — do your filing and moisturizing at home!
  • Going out for dinner is a nice treat and a great way to socialize, but it can get very expensive. It's still doable, though, as many restaurants are now offering meal deals, happy hour deals, even family-style deals. Do your homework and I bet you'll be happily surprised to see that eating out is still feasible.

To see two more ideas, just

.

  • Drinking always adds to the cost of eating out, so choose restaurants that don't have a corkage fee and start BYOBing it!
  • If travel is what you're missing most these days, check out all the fantastic deals the online travel industry is offering. Hotel prices have dipped — some are even giving away a few nights free — and airlines are offering discounted rates, especially if you fly mid-week.

Do you have any secrets up your sleeve? If so, share them with us below!

I enjoy spending hours on a nice dinner at home rather than eating out, and it's about the same price, depending on what you make. Also, you realize you're /supposed/ to do something to pay taxes on out-of-state stuff you aren't charged taxes for? Alas, I live in WA, where we seem to pay taxes on most online places (not always clothes ones, though),

I've found clothes that retail for $300 in designer outlets for $3 at the salvation army. (A CUE dress for 3 bucks, I'll never have that luck again) Jeans are always good quality there and they never sell anything stained, smelly or worn out. Most of my clothes are second hand and you can't really tell, I've been asked if my clothes came from a certain boutique when it's an outfit I picked up for a couple of bucks. Find out the best wines for under AU$15. My partner and I have this one sorted! Try Poets Corner or Arrogant Frog for a fantastic drop thats great on the wallet. Over here Australian wines are really cheap as well, so we try to buy local wines as often as possible. Cask wine can also be really good, we've found cask wine that's better than most top shelf brands for nine bucks! I always do my own nails, hair removal, skin masks and deep conditions. Over the holidays I also gave myself a haircut and saved 40 bucks! Came out a bit messy but that's ok. If I'm really feeling indulgent I'll get in the kitchen and bake something delicious, or have ice cream with fresh made waffles.

I do my own mani and pedi, too. I'm really good at it, and I'm picky about how it's done. My feet and nails look like they're professionally done. Incidentally, I receive compliments from men and women about my them. :)

I think these are good tips.. I always do my own nails and I hardly ever go out for dinner. I shop online alot too for free shipping and what not. :)

I kinda like that the "Specials" sign looks so seedy. LOL The only thing I splurge on is getting my eyebrows done. They grow thick and crazy looking and I've never been able to do them myself so that they look equal (one is usually more arched, or one is thinner or something).

There are really good travel deals happening right now. I spend most of my money on travel since my boyfriend is overseas (7-hour flight away) and my family is across the country (7 hours also!). When there are $156 plane ticket specials to London I jump on them. I personally stopped doing my nails - I keep 'em short and use OPI Nail Envy every couple of days. I still think a once-a-month pedicure in the summer is a good idea, though. You can maintain it at home. Don't rule out thrift store shopping. I really can't afford to shop at regular stores anymore - even online ones - but there are great things to be had at thrift stores. I'm lucky to live in an area of Brooklyn that has lots of very good ones. Also, my friends and I love doing clothing swaps!! We've all gotten some fabulous things from each other - we have some wine and snacks, and try on clothing and shoes. The leftovers go to Goodwil. As far as drinking, I started drinking Trader Joe's $3 wine at home. I'm not a wine snob, but some of their varieties are *much* better than the random $10 wines I was buying before. (Couldn't ever really afford a wine over $10 anyway.)

Screw going to a nail salon to get my nails done. It's always what I've done before, but it's so expensive and the employees rarely do my nails the way I want. Recently, I decided to check out the fake nails at wal-mart and glue them on myself. It only cost me $4 for the nails (which are already painted with a design on them), and $2 for the glue. It looks like I got my nails done at a salon, and so far I've had no problems with them breaking or falling off or anything. I'm definitely going to be doing my nails myself for now on.

I do my own feet so that I can get my nails done :) Last night I did them and soaked them while watching some Jon and Kate Plus 8 and today they are nice and soft and look so pretty! Tonight is manis with my sis :)
