hahaha i'm so glad others found that post to be completely stupid. it's a routine question. your doctor doesn't care if you're in a dry spell! they just want to know whether you need certain tests...or, if you are sexually active with multiple partners, they want to educate you in safe sex. it takes a lot for a doctor to remember you. your boring sex life will not even be remembered by the end of the day.

omg. your MD could give a crap about your sex life. they only ask for YOUR health. seriously, in this day of HMO/10 minute visits, the MD doesn't even remember your name/face/issue an hour after you left. seriously, you think "i'm not sure i'm active", or "not so much" is worth remembering? its not. the "yes i have hooked up with the entire hockey team at the local college and a traveling circus" might get a reaction or spark a "hey at work today i talked to this patient who...." at dinner. but no/little activity isn't noteworthy.

If the sexually active lady has no greater issues, she should consider herself lucky. I'm sure the doctor is well aware that unmarried people have sex. And I'm sure doctors don't judge you, unless you show up three times a month with a new STD. They probably ask that question because if you are indeed a virgin (which is entirely possible, even if you're taking birth control - some people take it just in case, or to regulate their periods), there are some questions or tests they don't have to do. Just get over it. I've been in some awkward situations when I've had to explain my open relationship in graphic detail, but like I said, if someone chooses to become a gynecologist, they know that that's the things they'll be dealing with.
