Bizarre Commercial

Even after Adfreak explained the premise of this Australian commercial, it still makes no sense. In this tv spot for Nando's Restaurants, a working mom joneses for its chicken, so she has to get a patch to recover from her addiction. Problem is, because she's a stripper (?!), her clients don't like to stick cash in her g-string while she has a patch on, so she's chewing the gum now. HUH?!

Bizarre, yes, but all they care about is getting their name out there and after getting that stupid commercial branded in your pretty little heads (and mine I guess), Nando's succeeded. :p

The funniest thing to me is that Nando's bought this idea and produced a commercial...and then the is she this desperate for work?

Why at the end, when it is showing the pack of gum and stuff does it say under it 'Now NOT Available?' This is just a crazy commercial that makes absolutely no sense x.X

Hey Cher412, as a matter of fact some DO live that well, A CLASS club,Good atmosphere, Good Drinks, Well done routines, and some really good common sense all help to propel a SMART woman into a world of her own making! A really GOOD dancer in a really good club can make $500. or more in an evening!, and do it without prostituting (in the literal sense!) herself, and if she is determined and sets her goals high, and stays away from ALL those bad temptations out there,,,,,,,,,well, she can live how she pleases and probably even set up her retirement fund really well! Just like any other woman holding a job and trying to deal with the rest of the crap in the world,a dancer can win too! Sorry if that sounded like a rant.. I qnce managed a couple of really nice dance clubs and have a lot of friends who are or were dancers and the GOOD ones have about everything they want or need!!!!!

I don't think this commercial has anything to do with flatulence. I think it's just saying this: 1- Premise: Nando's food is addictively good. 2-Joke scene: Like with smoking, you take the patch to get your fix, but sometimes you don't like it when people see the patch (or other problems), so now, there is a new gum instead. (Stripper added for oddness + sexiness) 3- Side-Note scene: Even though she was a stripper, Nando's is still a family place, so everyone should eat here and not be offended. That's the way I understood it, and I loved the commercial.

haha, do strippers normally live that well?

It STILL does not make much sense, Konic. The next question is: what does flatulence have to do with a patch? Nobody cures farts with a patch! So why would anybody be turned off a stripper just because shes wearing a patch? It just doesn't fit.

That has to be a joke!! Oh yeah gum fixed all her problems! LOL

I'm with Konic. This borders on brilliant. It makes as much sense as BK's King ads, or that insane Starburst guy, which are both highly annoying and skewed toward a young male demo. Nando's pinches the sweet spot here, with a logic-defiant juxtaposition of expectations and irony to develop something truly ballsy, funny, and WOM provocative. Look at the mom--she's much older than a stripper and lives in suburbia, too. Everything about the spot is a wonderful tangent. Who did it, and can I work there too?

Thanks, konic, but you may be the sole possessor of the point of this commercial! It's unclear even to people whose job it is to analyze ads!

Ok you all seemed to have missed the point. Nandos is a very very spicy chicken chain. Spicy food is famous for flatulence. Ergo the premise of this commercial. Nandos is also a place you do get cravings for. Like White castle.

I agree with you guys, this commercial's a mess.

I couldn't even figure out what they were selling, was it gum, food, a patch, or the woman? Bad for business when you don't know what they're pushing.
