Blackwater's Iraq Contract Renewed For At Least Another Year Last fall, Blackwater Worldwide was in deep peril. Guards for the security company were involved in a shooting in September that left at least 17 Iraqis dead at a Baghdad intersection. Outrage over the killings prompted the Iraqi government to demand Blackwater's ouster from the country, and led to a criminal investigation by the FBI, a series of internal investigations by the State Department and the Pentagon, and high-profile Congressional hearings.

How must our soldiers feel when our government uses our tax dollars to hire private companies to do the same thing they are, for more money and with better equipment and intelligence? It's just disgusting.

Why is Blackwater necessary? And no, I won't agree that in this case the actions of a few don't mean the whole group isn't bad. Why be a private military? If you want to serve your country, we have a number of lovely services that will train you properly and hold you responsible for your actions.

I don't believe we should outsource our military. It's demeaning to our soldiers.

The fact is, while some in Blackwater did some pretty stupid things, the group still is necessary. I think we can agree that the actions of a few don't necessarily mean the entire group is bad.
