Yes, I understand that. My point is the process doesn't begin with the dictionary, it ends there.

It's definitely in process - that genie's not going back into the bottle.

There are a bunch of people that want the term to be changed. It hasn't changed yet.

but the word marriage IS changing, it has been changing for quite a while now, just as it should be. i'm glad the people at websters are recognizing the change taking place in our society, in our younger generations, and in the way we look at marriage. i'm glad they did the right thing, something that should've been done a looooooooooooong time ago.

The dictionary's just a step on the way to more changes.

Thanks CG. That was my point. I understand that words can change their meaning over generations, but it usually doesn't begin with the dictionary, it usually ends there.

"Gleen Beck works my nerves. I can usually watch an opposing view point fairly comfortably but I swear that freak drinks 25 cups of coffe before he goes on the air. He looks like he wants to pee and climb the walls at the same time. Sort of like a schizophrenic cat ":rotfl:

"You'd better check the definition of crap too UnDave LOL!" The other day I heard that the other version of that word came from when they had to ship it, and the directions to Ship High In Transit. Who knew it was an acronym? Words are funny things that change meaning and usage over time. This has always happened through out humanity.

"I've been wondering what happened to Liberty for awhile now too." So first they get rid of Citizen and hire someone else to pose as her...and now they ditched Liberty too? Maybe that is why the site seems to be suffering greatly in its content.

I think that with the Chris Dodd thing we can look at it as what we want from fantasy land, and then there is reality where contracts contain legal obligations that have consequences. Yes, it would have been wonderful to legislate the bonuses to be out of bounds, but the legislative branch does not have the power to do that. Judicial power governs contracts that have already been signed. I could be wrong, you can't pass legislation to invalidate legal agreements that have already been bound. Traditionally the court system has looked down on de post facto retroactive application in regards to these things. Wall Street crooks might be slimey, but they still know how to battle against breach of contract. I still think more digging needs to be done on this issue, and more facts need to be uncovered. But from my perspective now, I don't think there is a lot we could have legally done. And I think MUCH more attention needs to be paid to where the other money is going.

Chris Dodd has got some splaning to do and to his credit Bill O'Reilly has been hot on his heals for a couple months now begging the other networks to go after this guy and finally they get their hands out of their pockets.
