Bush Welcomes New US Citizens on Fourth of July
President Bush invoked the memory of Thomas Jefferson Friday in welcoming new US citizens at a naturalization ceremony at Monticello, saying "I'll be proud to call you a fellow American." On his final Fourth of July as president, Bush told an audience at the home of the Declaration of Independence's author that he was honored to be present for the naturalization.

I'm sure the President thinks it was his honor to be there. And he would be right. He was present at the moment hundreds of people voluntarily chose to become American citizens! How cool is that?

Totally agree Rac. If protesters were shouting at my mother's naturalization ceremony, i would have kicked them in the behind and thrown them out!

I'm not a Bush fan by any stretch of the imagination, but those people must have been so proud to have the president there, regardless of their opinion. The freaking president at your swearing in ceremony. Yeah, protesters have a right, but still, they should put things in perspective.

Here he is doing an honorable thing and protesters were interrupting his entire speech :oy:

That was nice of him. I mean, it's probably not every day the president of the US shows up at these things. Just saying.
