Planned Parenthood has faced recent attempts by politicians and pro-life groups to decrease its funding from various sources. But in addition to vocal supporters coming to its defense, Planned Parenthood has a well-spoken and passionate president, Cecile Richards. She went on The Daily Show last night to defend the organization's women's health and family planning mission, and outline the political opposition it faces. She explained, "We work with folks of all different political persuasions," as well as religious groups. Cecile continued, "If you really do believe we should do something in this country about unintended pregnancy and teen pregnancy, that's mainly our work, those are issues about which 90 percent of Americans agree, including folks from every religious persuasion." She pointed out that Planned Parenthood's mission is to reduce unintended pregnancy, which would also mean fewer abortions. Watch her make her case below.
