Dear Poll: Do You Feel Down If You Don't Have Weekend Plans?

Dear Poll: Do You Feel Down If You Don't Have Weekend Plans?

My girlfriend just called to ask me what I was doing tonight and I excitedly said nothing! She couldn't have been more shocked and told me that if she didn't have plans on a Friday night, she'd automatically be depressed. Of course, she was exaggerating, but her reaction got me thinking. Truth be told, there have been times that I've gone out of my way to find a partner in crime to paint the town red with, but other times, the couch and a long bath is what takes precedent. Of course, it depends on my mood, but overall, tell me, do you feel blue if you don't have weekend night plans?

I just broke up with my boyfriend and had to move back home so yeah, i am a bit bummed at the prospect of staying home on the weekends so i've been hanging out with my girlfriends a lot to distract myself. It's hard readjusting after two years of having an automatic date but i'm sure i'll stay home at some point on the weekends. right now, i just want to go out and have a good time!

I, too, live alone, and I think that makes a big difference. I relish my solitude--nothing beats curling up with a good book or listening to music and doing a bit of writing--but by the time the weekend rolls around, I definitely start feeling the itch to go out and if I don't have plans, I tend to feel a bit bummed.

I love it when I have a free weekend. I'm so busy all the time that a weekend with nowhere to have to go or be is a luxury!

Haha if I'm commenting on a Saturday night, clearly I have nothing to do. I usually hate staying at home on a weekend night-- usually I am with my bf. But if he happens to be out of town, like he is tonight, and none of my friends are free to do anything then I am perfectly fine staying at home now. It doesn't happen all that often anyway, so I welcome it. If it was a few weekends in a row I'd get a bit sad about it though!

I don't mind having no plans on the weekend. I usually work over 40 hours per week and hang out sometimes during the week with friends after work. So by the time the weekend rolls around I'm so exhausted and rather sleep in late, watch TV and weekend chores, plus I like my apartment.

I live by myself, and I spend A LOT of time alone (I don't work, and my classes are only a few hours a day). Especially now that it's summer, I'm home alone constantly. I enjoy spending time by myself, but occasionally, I get really lonely, and I feel a bit trapped. So, I'll go out with a friend and have a great time. I also visit my boyfriend twice a week, so that forces me to go out, too.

I go through phases where I don't go out at all. I figure that I did enough going out in high school and at university. Now that I'm working, I find myself not going out much at all - and I like it.

I don't have many proper friends and I'm single so I always long to do something at the weekend but I mostly am stuck in at the weekend. I don't have a lot of money either so that means options are limited - I can't just take myself shopping as I can't afford to! It can feel quite depressing when you see those around you making plans and I don't feel I have anyone to make plans with.

I like to have SOMETHING to do. Even if it's just going shopping or whatever. I don't have many friends around here so it's usually just me and my boyfriend hanging out together. This is fine. :) Sometimes my "weekend" will be midweek because of my rota's and that kinda annoys me because my boyfriend is always off on the weekend. :/I'll be back at University soon though and am hoping to go out with friends who are moving to go to University in my town. :)

It depends. Sometimes I really want to get out of the house and hang out with friends, but most of the time I love to just watch movies in bed and go to sleep.

I end up going out more on weeknights for some reason, so when the weekend rolls around, I do love to spend it at home by myself watching TV or balancing my checkbook or whatnot! What can I say, I guess I'm a little boring.

It really depends - if I want a relaxing weekend just lying in bed and reading, etc. then I don't mind. But most of the time I get pretty depressed if I have no plans on the weekend and my bf is totally occupied with HIS friends, as I only have 1 or 2 in this city since I'm fairly new to it. So I try to find things I can do on my own out, but sometimes it's not just as fun as doing it with someone else. :( I'm working on it ... ANYONE WANT TO BE MY FRIEND???

It totally depends on my mood. I was glad to have plans I knew would only last about three hours tonight - I had a lot waiting to do at home.

It definetly depends on my mood. I had a God awful day today full of quitting my job a week earlier than planned and dealing with sketchy friends so being able to crawl into bed and watch a movie feels great.

I used to be a little sad if I didn't have plans, but sometimes I prefer not do anything (I think I partied myself out a few months ago).

i don't get sad if i don't have plans. if i want to go out, i invite people out, but otherwise, i'm happy to stay home. on friday evenings, i like to go for a jog, make dinner, watch sopranos & go to bed early. that way i can get stuff done saturday & go out saturday night. it's a good schedule.

I have plans tonight, but I'm really excited about not having plans tomorrow night! It just depends on my mood. Currently, I'm craving loner time. However, when I was in school, I was out almost every night of the week. Maybe I got the social butterfly out of my system...

No. It is really not that serious. Sometimes I like to be at home by myself on the weekend. I am the type of person that goes out a few times a month and spends the rest of the time at home or with close friends.
