Dear Poll: Who Do You Turn to First?

Since life isn't always wine and roses, we all need someone to turn to when the going gets tough. Sixty percent of you still turn to your mom, like me, but I'm sure a lot of you also turn to your significant other when you need comfort, support, or even just a voice of reason. Of course, our moms are irreplaceable, but when you're in a relationship that special someone can easily become your new go-to person during a time of crisis. I know it's a tough question and it depends on the circumstance, but generally speaking, who do you turn to first: your mom or your significant other?

My mom. No question about it. Sure, I trust my boyfriend and we talk about everything, but my mom is way more attentive and reasonable than him. I mean, he is reasonable, but he sometimes lacks that sensitivity in understanding certain emotional situations. Plus, my mom and I, its like we're thinking with the same mind, in-tuned. I hope and don't give a bad impression of my boyfriend, cause he is really nice, but he is just, well, a guy sometimes.

I don't think that you should be married or in a relationship if you run to your mom for her help. Go to your SO and let them help you first. You can always go to your Mom after but don't go to them first.

When I'm pissed off at the world or having boy or friend issues I turn to my mum. Mums one of my best friends, there are few things we dont tell eachother. Everything else I talk to my boy about. It's good to talk to your significant other about everything, I fell like it strengthens our bond and I get cuddled at the same time!

I keep most big problems inside. It's my downfall, I know.

It depends on the problem, sometimes I go to my mom, my fiance or my best friend. Sometimes all 3 to get different view points on it.

I would probably say that I turn to my boyfriend most of the time because we live together and he's always the person around. After I vent to him, I then go to my grandma. She raised my sisters and I. Plus I've only just recently in the past 3 years started having contact with my mother again so we're still not as close as I'd love to be.

Since most of my problems happen with the two options listed, I vote my best friend. Or my sisters.

My baby sister. She's my voice of reason.

I love my mom, but don't really complain to her too much, because I don't want her to get too worried (and I'm a huuuge drama queen and she's very gullible and easily worried, so it's not a good combination). My fiance always knows exactly what's really bothering me, and how to make me laugh, snap out of it, and feel better about whatever's going on.

It depends on the circumstance. If it's work related, the beau; if it's about the beau, my bffs; if it's about family, my sisters. But if it's a dire situation, my sisters are usually the first people I call. They almost always pick up.

If it's not about relationships I go to my mom, but boyfriend advice I go straight to my very mature good friend.

Almost always my mom, then one of my girlfriends. My mom is just a really good sounding board and super supportive of me. I'm lucky to have a mom who is also my best friend!

Although I am very close to my mom and enjoy talking with her, I usually turn to one of my best friends for serious venting and advice. Nine times out of ten, they know what i'm going through too.

My relationship with my mom is strained, at best, so she's not even second on my list to turn to, but no matter what, the hubby is ALWAYS first.
