France and England have reignited their rivalry over an unexpected subject: Diesel's "Be Stupid" ads. The UK banned the ads because they encouraged "antisocial behavior" and were unsuitable for children. Across the channel in more permissive Cannes, the ads won the top prize at the International Advertising Festival. Now the company has released a new batch: one depicting a woman pleasuring herself with work tools and another encouraging you to sleep with your boss. They're definitely stupid, but that's the point. Diesel says the campaign is a rallying call to challenge conventional wisdom and the ordinary life. Unfortunately, trying to sell jeans with risqué ads and lots of skin seems pretty ordinary to me considering Calvin Klein's been shocking us for years. Have you seen the ads?
