Do Tell: Have You Ever Had a Pregnancy Scare?

Unless you’re currently trying for children, your sex life is probably focused on not getting pregnant as much as it is on the sex itself. Since we know all about the various methods of contraception out there, we also know that none of them are 100 percent effective. If you’re having sex, there’s always a slim possibility you could get pregnant. And if you have a regular period, missing it for even a day could send you rushing out for pregnancy tests. So ladies, in your attempts to avoid it, have you ever had a pregnancy scare?

I had a week of hell recently with a pregnancy scare. I had to buy a test and found my entire destiny resting on my next pee! My PRECON status reached 2. Read all about it at http://emilyjoycediary.wordpress.com/2008/10/16/week-29-pregcon-alert/

Yeah, a few times. I hated buying tests because I was only 16 or 17 and people would always give me looks that just screamed "What a tart."

I was always super paranoid- bc I never wanted to tell my parents that they were going to be grandparents unless it was going to be good news. Now that Im married and in my late 20's my mom is counting the minutes until she gets that news lol. Of course now I also have baby fever and even when I was still on the pill I thought I was pregnant every month- it turned out my nausea was caused by switching generics of my BC and the multivitamin I was taking. At least buying a test isnt nearly as embarrassing when you have wedding rings on.

The week before I got married, my doctor wouldn't refill my birth control for some reason for like 2 weeks...so I got horribly ill, but it ended up being from readjusting to meds again. I thought I was for sure, but I wasn't. I was happy yet sad.

I have no idea. I am in the UK and the guidelines are that they'll only run the checks on both me and my boyfriend if we have been trying to conceive for 18 months and failed.

Is it covered by insurance to check your fertility? Can any woman of child bearing age get this done? Just curious..
