Do Tell: What's the Worst Thing You've Done to Get Revenge?

Do Tell: What's the Worst Thing You've Done to Get Revenge?

A few weeks ago I posted a Group Therapy all about revenge. This woman's boyfriend cheated on her, and to get him back, she reported his illegal business to the IRS but then feared that she had gone to far. Now for those of you who believe in karma, any kind of revenge is probably crossing the line, but sometimes people need to know that there are consequences in life, right? Now I'm not one to go out of my way to get revenge — I believe more in what goes around comes around — but what about you? Do tell ladies: What's the worst thing you've ever done to get revenge on someone?

I usually don't have to act on my revenge scheme but I always have it ready. My ex best friend who lived with me for a while left some incriminating stuff at my house that I can use on her if I need to. I hope I don't have to use it.

This is my first time on this site, and I'm not sure if my story makes for a happy place or not. But if you want a revenge story, maybe you can weigh in on this one. It has all the uh-oh ingredients - a workplace romance, the guy that all your friends hate, some snooping, the downfall of innocent bystanders, a law-suit and more . . . Ready? The story goes like this: A friend of mine, let's call her Gal, had been dating a co-worker of hers, let's call him Guy, for a year and a half. Guy was one of those smooth talkers, you know? One of those narcissitic sociopathic personalities that will say anything to get what they want. He was also known as the office slut because he always had a trail of giggly girls lining up around his desk. Somehow he convinced Gal to stay with him even after he picked up a girl in front of her - on new years eve, nonetheless! Even after he allowed their HR girl to set him up with her sister, whom he brought to a work party where Gal had to sit and watch while some silly girl made goo goo eyes at her boyfriend and groped his thigh under the table. Even after she found love-professing emails to his ex-girlfriend well into their relationship. Even after he caused such a scene while they were having an argument in public, that an officer stopped her to ask if she needed "help". Even after Christmas, when he gave her a necklace that he had orginally bought for his ex-girlfriend (along with a coffee maker which his mother had gotten Gal, which he unwrapped and put in his own kitchen!). And worst of all, even though he refused to sleep with her on a regular basis - both in terms of sex and next to her (He did however constantly ask her if he could cum on her face). There's much more, but you get the drift. All in all, he was a real class act. Enter their boss. The boss also had a sadistic streak and got on well with Guy. Guy, in turn, used his relationships to pit Gal & Boss against each other. Eventually Gal decided that she needed to get away from Guy, from Boss and that entire life, so she decided to move to a different country. Guy begged and pleaded with her to stay. He told her that she wouldn't have to work and that he would take care of her. Meanwhile, he also told Boss she was leaving. One day, before she's even bought a ticket, Boss calls her in and tells her she has two options: Quit or get fired. She quits but asks him if he were to fire her, on what grounds did he plan to do it? He smiled, and with a gleam in his eye, told her that, quite frankly, he didn't need a reason - he could make up anything. So Gal leaves her job and buys a one way ticket that flies out a month later. One Friday, a week before she leaves, her dinner plans get cancelled and she calls Guy, knowing that he's going out with work people for drinks, to see if she can join. He says no, saying it will cause tension having new employees and old employees together. What he really meant was that it would cause tension within his growing female fanclub. Guy tells Gal that he will have a drink or two and then call her to meet up. Three and half hours later, with no phone call, and unable to get in touch with him she sends him a text message "We're Done". The next morning, after not hearing from Guy, she decides to check his work email (he had given her his password strategy earlier in their relationship). Lo and behold, she finds a string of emails between Guy, Boss, and HR girl. Apparently Boss and HR girl made a bet about when Guy was going to bed one of the newbie employees. On that Friday night Guy had emailed Boss to tell him that he's taken the time, mid-stroke, to let Boss know that he lost the bet and will need to pay HR girl her winnings come Monday. He then emails HR girl to let her know she won and that Boss is aware that he needs to pay up. HR girl sends him a congratulatory email to which he responds; When you're good at something you should stick with it. She continues to applaud him and lets him know that she has just clarified with Boss what exactly it was that Guy had done to win the bet - Newbie girl. I guess that after putting up with everything else, Gal had finally felt the weight of the last straw drop. So she forwarded the email. To every single employee in the company. Guy got fired. So did HR girl. Boss threw them both under the bus and claimed he had no idea what they were talking about. HR girl sued Boss, saying that she was merely adhering to the norm he created. And Newbie was threatening to sue the company. As for Gal, she confessed, got on a plane, and went to make a brand new start in a brand new place. Was revenge sweet? Well, I guess you can weigh in on that . . .

Well lets see when my lying cheating BF broke up with me I wanted revenge so bad....but I decided to be the mature one and let him go be with his baby momma and now two and a half months later....she has talked a gang of shit about me on myspace as well as to him, and I have refused to get caught up in it...including accusing me of breaking into her house...which I would NEVER do and he knows it. Funny thing is I figure karma will get him in the end, and now he wants out cuz she is obsessed with me and he and I work together and she is obsessed with the what we do all day at work (we never see or speak to each other)...her actions have him begging me for a second chance...fuck that the mofo aint gettin one with me. But I dreamed for months about fucking up his car (it is his pride and joy) or reporting him at work for smoking weed ( he is a welder so we have a strict zero tolerance policy) or reporting him to HR for claiming his two nephews as his sons and having them on his health insurance...but I will not sink to that level.

I haven't done anything to my exes but I helped my friend once in high school... she dated a guy who was gay all along and "thought he could change by dating a pretty girl" and basically spent the entirety of the relationship lying to her. We made up a guy who had crushed on him from afar and arranged for them to meet... obviously the guy with the crush didn't exist so we just watched the ex wait for him. It was pretty sad, in retrospect... =\

Then there's the dreaming revenge. OK, I'll bite. I've dreampt that I shot my abusive brother right through the windshield of his Mercedes, in full living colour. It was so real*. *I know, I know, I've already been to therapy...

I have happily and without guilty conscience: Saw and didn't report some big hairy biker dudes lifting a American-made type motorcycle into a windowless box truck whilst the owner wasn't looking. Their coveting was due to watching said owner give rides to a young boy about 10 years old without having the child wear a helmet and doing wheelies with kids on his bike and speeding insanely. Ancient history now. I beat the crap out of a girl in high school because she would not stop trying to sleep with my long-term boyfriend. Then my best friend beat her ass the next week. Now, THAT'S a best friend!!! After my jerk ex moved out, I'd put notes on his bills and mail them in with no money, just written notes like, "I can't pay this, I'm broke!"...and write his initials after it. Same jerk boyfriend; I was with with a friend from school 2 weeks before the jerk boyfriend and I bought a house together. The school friend and I romped in and out of his neighbors pool for a few hours and when I got home, I smelled like chlorine and the jerk noticed the pool smell before I showered. It was 3 in the morning. I know- no class, but it was sweet revenge -and- poolboy and I are still friends, jerk ex and I are not! Hmm, I know there's more... I once had 2 large dogs, and 2 idiot neighbors (living next door in the same house). I buried a 5 gallon bucket, hidden, but right under their window. From May until October I put dog crap in it and left it there in the far, far away corner of my yard (I wouldn't have done this otherwise), which just happened to be in the direct sun most of the day. It gets up to 100 degrees sometimes in the summer here.;)

i dream up all sorts of good plots lol but i never actually follow through. i usually just go with the looking good is the best revenge. that and showing up to a place you know you'll run into your ex bf while you look very hot and maybe you happen to be with an even hotter boy lol but i wouldn't really call that revenge- more just the moving on process!

I prefer to take the high road. You always come out looking much better.

Oh come on, ufshutterbabe. Misdirected anger? At the woman sleeping with her married father? And yet you encouraged a girlfriend to call immigration services on her ex-boyfriend for abusing his student visa privileges. That sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. I'd suggest seeking professional help for someone who didn't have a problem with their father's wh*re.

Just your typical bringing the superhot brazilian soccer player to parties and places where you know your ex is going to be...it works to make him feel tiny

looseseal, love the name, but concerned about the post. I'm glad you're seeking professional help. It sounds like you might have a lot of misdirected anger. Similar thing is happening with my younger sister, and I worry for her too. The problem with taking steps to "help karma along" and get revenge on someone, is that it almost always ends up making you look like the immature loser. And I really do believe you are inviting even more negative energy into your life when you engage in negative actions. That being said, I did encourage a girlfriend to call immigration services on her (horrible, mentally abusive, complete a-hole) ex-boyfriend for abusing his student visa privileges. She didn't have the stones to do it though.
