I was 18. The first day I took it was actually my first day of University. That makes it just over 6 years...

i got on it this year. i thought i found something in there that didnt feel normal and the only way i could get it checked at the clinic was if i was getting on BC. so i went and i figured that since my bf and i were getting more intimate that i should just take it... thankfully there was nothing abnormal with my exam

When I was 18 and started my first serious relationship. Technically it was the patch and I was only on the pill for less than a month. I have an IUD now and will never go back.

I was 16 and I initially started because my period was out-of-this-world irregular (I had one ever couple of months and so on) and I had cramps that were unbearable. Since than (I'm 20 now), I've never found a reason NOT to continue taking it.

I've been on since I was 13 due to non birth control reasons. Doctors found a cyst and since my period wasn't normal ( very heavy bleeding that led to a blood transfusion), they decided it would help me. It wasn't until almost a year ago that I actually started using them for birth control purposes (aside from bleeding). :)

I started it half a month ago. I'm getting married in 9 months (hello, I may be ready for marriage but definitely not for kids) but also I just wanted to start trying to regulate my period because it's been unpredictable since the start (so 8ish years) and I'm sick of waiting for it to regulate itself.

I went on about a year ago to manage my period. I only started using it for contraception with my current beau.

OMG Silverlining, that is almost EXACTLY the situation that happened to me! I was 18 and I ran to the student health center to get Plan B the morning after my first time. I dragged my boyfriend with me for support (I was so nervous I could barely ask the receptionist for it!), made an appointment with a gynecologist and got on the pill immediately. I was not going to mess around with the possibility of having a kid at that age, no siree! :) I went off it once for 3 months when me & my boyfriend were separated for the summer, but otherwise I've been on it ever since. Never changed dosages, just used different brands with the same dosages at different times.

I was 18, just had sex, rushed to the health center for Plan B, then made an appointment with a gynecologist for birth control pills. Since then, I've switched once.

I was 14, because my periods were so bad I was throwing up and pulling hair out (literally). My mom had endometriosis, and the doctor thinks I do too. So, I guess its been 11 years now...wow.

I got on the pill for non-birth-control reasons, right before my current boyfriend and I started dating. I was 25 then.

I gained a lot of weight my freshman year of college (early last year) and I went 4 months without a period. I started taking it to regulate my hormones in April '07, and started needing it for other reasons that August. *wink*

I got on it when I was 16, for acne. I ended up using it for real when I became sexually active during college. it's now a doctor's order from my dermatologist, since that's what I mainly use it for now anyways.

I got put on it at 15 to counter another hormone pill I take for acne. I have tried orthotricyclen and its generics, and am on Yaz now. Being going strong for 9 years and nothing scary has happened yet.

I started taking the pill when I was 16 or 17. I only took it for about a year and a half.. I'm afraid of all the risk involved. Also, at work, I do a lot of paperwork and she's having difficulty getting pregnant. I'm not entirely sure if it's because of the pill, but thats one of my biggest fears, not being able to get pregnant when I want one of my own.

I was 25 and had my first serious boyfriend, decided to get on the pill because I'd been thinking about it anyway (I have terrible cramps/ PMS). I didn't like that pill so with the next serious guy I went on NuvaRing, which is awesome. Off it now (I'm 29) but will probably get back on soon because the cramps are killing me again....

21. I was so easy - went on OrthoTricyclen Lo, it worked well, and haven't really had any problems with it since!

Austerity: Yes, it helps me tremendously. I have a sex drive, I haven't gained weight (I lost some, but I also was dieting, but I didn't have a problem losing weight). My face is clear now, I don't go postal on my husband randomly anymore and then go to him in apologetic tears. It also helped me with my insane period. It worked for me! Downside is they are $56 dollars without insurance...bummer.
