Do Tell: Would you Want to Stop Time?

Do birthdays give you the blues? Do you look back at your younger years and say, wow, if only I could have stayed 24 forever?! That statement has certainly come out of my mouth a few times, but my older friends are always there to reassure me that life just keeps getting better with age. So ladies, do tell, if you could stop aging at any point in your life, what age would you want to be forever?

I'm only 21 and I suppose maybe you should be older to really answer this question right but I'd say 17. That was a great year fo me in most every way. I was a senior in high school I was the most popular that I had ever been and I met my soulmate. Now I'm a senior in college and I hate it. I'm a music major and everyone is so gossipy and in everyone else's business and I settled for dating the wrong man and don't know how to get out of it so yeah life was better when i was 17

I'm looking forward to being in my 30s. It will be a relief to be more settled and not have to worry about finding a job, money, relationships. Well, hopefully I won't have to worry about those things as much. And being married and having kids would be nice.

How cliched of me, but I finally understand the line that I'd be happy to go back to a younger age -- if I knew then what I know now.

I'm mid 30s and I have to say, so far, my 20's were better. I know most people say the opposite, but everyone is different. Trying to turn that around though - bring on late 30's! :)

I'm turning twenty in september and it feels pretty strange. People often say I look older than my age (not a compliment in my opinion), and usually give me twenty-five, twenty-seven.. That's because I've had a tougher time than average growing up but anyway, now I'm just scared that if people continue adding more years to my plate I'll end up looking fifty when I'm thirty! The positive side is that all my friends, as well as my boyfriend, are older than me (mid-twenties) so every time I complain about feeling old they just give me that look and it shuts me right up! hehe. And no I wouldn't want to be stuck at the same age forever either. I'd hate to see everyone grow up and move on while I'd still be working three jobs, studying full time and trying to get my immigrant papers in order!

That's a tough one. I really liked being in high school with no cares, but now that I have lived out of my parents' house for so long, I think it would suck to be stuck in a time where you live with your parents. Being newlyweds was super fun, too, and the earning potential is unlimited cuz you aren't spending anything on your kids. I can't imagine being stuck living without my son, either. And each stage that he goes through is wonderful, and it only gets better, so I guess I wouldn't stop time. I might go BACK in time and tell myself to get off my fat a$$ and exercise more cuz it's harder to do after you have kids if you aren't in the habit of it already.

i'm only 20, and already feel middle aged :-) high school days were so carefree and all that walking around not having a car made me slimmer than i am today, but at 20, I still get mistaken for a 16 year old, so I guess I can't complain too much lol

nicachica - love your line about there always being a positive and negative. it really does make life interesting and it does make us who are for better or for worse! let's not stop time! let's just LIVE!

i'm not sure i can really say i'd want to stop at any age since there were good and bad things at every stage of my life. when i was in high school i had fun but i was stressed about classes and getting into college (and i wasn't 18 yet so i couldn't get into clubs!). when i was in college i had a blast but also worried about what i wanted to do with my life and what kind of job to get after school. also, i hated not being 21 yet! so now that i'm 25 i'm pretty stable but now i want to have all my bills/loans paid and job that i enjoy! you can never have it all at any age because there will always be a positive and a negative. but i think that makes life really interesting. who the heck wants to stay one age forever? that's just boring to me!

I am only 24, but I think i'd go with 28. Old enough to be taken seriously and look young! ;)

I am only 20 but I would not go back to a younger age. I didn't enjoy high school that much and college is not any better. I would say if I could stop time at an age it would be 27 or 28 because I would hope to have a stable job and hopefully a serious significant other.

I'll join the 27, looking forward to 30's club :) There is no part of me that wants to go back to high school, and only a very small part of me that would even consider college. Life gets better every year and I'm hoping that will continue until I'm really old and everyone important to me starts dying.

fab4, I'm with you on this one. I'm 27 but I think early 30's will be a great time, I hope to be married and have a kid or two by then, so it'll be a great time in my life.

I am 27 and I enjoy and appreciate life more now than ever, but I can't wait to be in my 30s! It just seems like a good age. I would say give me a few years, and then I'll be ready to stop the clock

I liked being 18. My friends and I were young and innocent and had completely positive outlooks on the world around us. We hadn't gotten our hearts broken yet (I hadn't even had a boyfriend yet) and everything was bliss! No bills! No rent! No 9-5!
