Do You Have a Hard Time Admitting That You're Wrong?

Do You Have a Hard Time Admitting That You're Wrong?

It's not an easy thing to admit when you're wrong. For some reason, we don't want to let on that anything was our fault, or that we made a mistake. We feel ashamed, which is really weird, because how else can we learn and grow unless we mess up along the way? I guess it's in our nature to just pretend like we know everything and do everything right, all the time. If we believed otherwise, it would really do a number on our egos and self-esteem.

Some people have no problem confessing when they are wrong, and others, even after evidence points to their faults can't seem to say, "Whoops, my bad," or "I'm sorry." So what I want to know is

What's harder for me as admitting that THEY are right. Especially when its a huge blow to your ego. It makes me feel weak to admit I'm wrong, and its even harder to apoligize when I still think Im right. LOL! But I always apoligize when its needed.

I'm never wrong so I never have to admit it! :P

I don't mind taking the hit if I know I messed up or did something wrong. Everyone has to swallow their pride sometime!

I don't mind, but I'm good at hedging my bets in the first place. As long as I say "I think" I can always defend myself by saying, "Yeah, I was wrong, but hey, I didn't say I knew for sure!" Or if we're confronted with a decision, I might say "I'm not sure, but let's try.. " Or, my last option is to state what I think, then do what my husband thinks, then gloat when he's wrong. And if he's right, I can say, "That's great. I'm glad we made the right decision." :-)

I am almost too good at admitting I'm wrong. I sometimes go too far and take blame that isnt mine, or say I'm wrong when I know I'm not. I'm only now realizing its ok to say I'm right every now and again, specially if it just might be true!

yes I HATE admitting I am wrong. I am very stubborn and so I rarely say I'm wrong at anything.

No, I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong or make a mistake. It's human. Besides, it's okay to be wrong or make mistakes as long as I learn from it. Also, I take accountability for my wrong/mistake by trying to fix it, if possible. Redemption. :)

Yes; I will admit being wrong however it gives my pride a huge beating. I usually try everything possible to prove I'm right and then I give up and admit that I'm sorry and was wrong.

Mistakes or being wrong is not a big deal. I say I was wrong and move on.

i hate making mistakes but if Im wrong then Ill be the first to let you know, I dont want to be that person who claims to be perfect. Being wrong is ok, no one is perfect. Accepting that will make you a better person.

I'm pretty good about saying I'm wrong when I realize I am. The problem is when I know I'm right and someone else wants to argue...I will argue until I'm blue in the face. I need to get better about walking away from that.

I'm pretty hardheaded when I KNOW I'm right, but that one other person never wants to admit they are wrong. Frustrating.

I used to have a lot of trouble admitting i was wrong, but i realize being an ignorant a**hole who refuses to see reality is much worse that being wrong sometimes.

oh no im horrible at it...i even have it down to an art on how to make people that are right think that they are wrong because i stand so strong behind my WRONG decesion. My other half is starting to catch on now though! :(

If I screw up or am wrong I try to admit it right away. It's actually kind of funny. I usually feel so bad that I go over the top apologizing for my mistake etc. Then the person sometimes ends up feeling sorry for ME because I feel so bad lol. We all make mistakes. If someone does something and tries to cover it up instead of just fessing up I lose trust for them.
