Do You Have a Life Plan?

In a job interview you might be asked for your five-year plan, so you better have an answer. Last night on The Bachelor, pilot Jake, who is interviewing strangers for the job of his wife, asked contestant Gia, 26, where she saw things going after the show. Gia had her answer down pat (check out the video above), and I got a sense that she has everything planned out regardless of who plays the role of her husband. Here's what Gia's plan consists of:

  • A long engagement
  • A few years of married life before having kids
  • But not too many years, since she wants kids before she turns 30
  • She wants to have two kids
  • Then, she'd like to adopt a baby girl from China
  • Finally, a pet potbelly pig will complete her household

It's all good to have a plan, since it can help you figure out if your goals are compatible with a potential partner. Just make sure you have a Plan B too!

I feel like it's hard to plan life, because life doesn't always go as planned. I try to have an idea in mine, but basically just go with the flow.

Not really. I live one goal at a time. Right now it is to graduate college in approximately 2 years and find a good job in my field. After that, we'll see...

I create plans, but they seldom, if ever work out just the way you I it. The thing is-life sometimes throws you a curve-ball, and you can't control it. That's why backup plans are so very essential.

I'm 22 and I actually have a life-plan: I'd like to finish my studies until 28 ad then marry with my beautiful boyfriend (we've been living together for a year right now) and then have kids ( 2 or more). But sometimes I feel the pressure and I think that's better just living the day!

That girl has a lot to accomplish in four years. I always had a vague idea of what I'd like in the future, though usually the future was so far off I didn't have to worry about it. I don't know where I'll be 6 months from now. Hopefully doing something awesome, it's just kind of hard to work towards when you don't know what it is.

my husband and i have been pretty specific with plans for a move out of state, our goals for buying a home after the move and even when we'd see ourselves having our first child...but we've also been together for 12 years, so you might say the first 8-10 were pretty relaxed :) as far as my career, i have way too many ideas and trouble pinning them down...i'd love to run my own business, but right now i'm all over the place with what that will be

I do have a plan about the things that I can control. Like my education, where I will like to live, etc. Things like romance, I cannot control it so I go with the flow.

I don't bother, cause absolutely nothing in my life happen the way I plan it... LOL. But if I did make a detailed life plan, they would look nothing like that girl's, that's for sure.

I agree, I had a plan in my early 20s, then reality set in, and now I'd just be happy to be alive, and perhaps have kids one day

I don't have a life plan. I might have goals I'd like to achieve, but I don't give them dates. I wanted to get married and have kids and be successful in my career. Doesn't matter what order or when it happens for me. Too much stress & disappointment when you put dates on it. I just turned 31.. If I had said married and kids by 30, I would have been pressuring my BF at the time into it. He was married before & that wouldn't have been fair to him. Plus it wouldn't be fair to me.. what's the difference. Life works out eventually.

Yeah, you can't help but plan, but life gets in the way! I'm a "everything happens for a reason" kinda girl. Everything works out the way it should!

I dont like micromanaging my life, it makes it dull and uninteresting. When i t comes to my education though, im active on it because i can control the outcome better than who i marry and when i have kids.

I thought that as well..... But, she is trying to get engaged to a man she hardly knows within a month's span, so I hardly think her definition of a "long engagement" is anywhere close to ours!

I was thinking that too Snookyx.... she might have a plan but she is terrible at math.

So she is 26 and wants a long engagement which is a year or two, then wants to be married for a few years before she has kids. But, she wants kids before she is 30? Hmm. When I was in high school I had a very detailed life plan but now that I am in college it has drastically changed and isn't as detailed.
