Do You Listen to Audiobooks?

Do You Listen to Audiobooks?

Yesterday I asked how often you read, so do audiobooks count? Listening to a book may not be the same as reading, but if someone asks me whether I've read a certain book, I'll say yes, even if I just listened to it. Growing up, my mom always had audiobooks on hand for road trips, and I've dabbled in them at the gym. Are you an avid audioreader?

I do every time we are in the car, especially driving to see family since they are 1 1/2 - 2 hrs away, I like having something to listen to and love stories in any form. My kid loves them too.. when she was around 1 1/2 she was adamant about getting us to go outside and in the car... she led us out, made us put her in her seat, and then told us to put on pokey puppy. I dont have any trouble focusing on them at all. We often have one of the WOT stories playing while we do stuff around the house, too.

I've never tried it and don't really want to either. I enjoy reading too much.

I have much harder time focusing on an audiobook! I gave it a shot but realized, after several minutes, I had no idea what was going on in the story. I actually prefer reading books even when I am on a bus. And standing.

No. I have to actually read a book to fully comprehend it.

I learned to read as a kid by holing up for hours with my books on tape. I turned the pages when the sound chimed and everything. But now? I would much rather hold a book. Curl up and enjoy!

I really dislike listening to them. I can never pay attention and I forget what was said 3 minutes ago. The only spoken thing I'd listen to is standup comedy or something like that.

I listen to audiobooks on my commute to work, they really help keep me calm in traffic!

No. I'm just a very visual person and have trouble following along to things like that.

"EAARTH: Making a Life on a Tough New Planet" by Bill McKibben I'll be listening to it for months I'm sure: I have trouble retaining scientific details - I get the substance, but the factual foundation always takes more effort.

That doesn't count as reading. Reading is the act of reading not of listening.

I actually haven't, though I used to love listening to old radio shows. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot. But I still books.

Love them, currently learning more about global warming on the bus to work. And I have a weakness for having British accents read to me.
