Does Dad Deserve Jail Since Daughter Failed GED?
An Ohio judge threw the book at a dad whose daughter has not received her GED. Brian Gegner was sentenced to six months in jail for contributing to the delinquency of a minor — his child Brittany who has a history of truancy. Despite the fact that the woman is now nearly 19 years old, a mother of an 18-month-old daughter, and living with her fiancé at her mother's house, the father was charged because he had custody of her when the problems began.

I think if they were going to hold the father responsible while she was still in school and failing, and while she was still a minor, that would have been fine. But I think the state or school board or whoever, lost their window of opportunity and should have just chalked it up to a lesson learned, filed it away to remember for future use in other cases.

I went and read a couple of the stories - sounds like the judge is fed up with the family and trying to get someone to take control. He may not have the option of tossing the girl in jail, whereas the dad hasn't obeyed a court order.
