Facebook Flirting With an Ex

Sunday Confessional: I've Been Flirting With an Ex

This week's confession comes from our anonymous Confession Booth group in the TrèsSugar Community. Weigh in with your advice below.

I've been corresponding with an ex through Facebook messages and I feel guilty about it. He doesn't live in the same city as me and I don't really say anything crazy, but I feel bad that seeing a message from him gets me excited. I need to stop since it's not fair to my boyfriend.

There's lots of great stuff going on in our community — join it, check it out, share your posts or advice in the great groups, and maybe we'll feature it here on TrèsSugar!

wow 28% of divorces! anyway yes i think you should either stop the messages or think 2 your self if your actually enjoyin gettin these messages you do still have feelings for him so there for should re think your relationship with your bf cause he will only get hurt and it will get harder the longer you leave it xx

That makes you feel guilty? Hummm, seems harmless. Maybe it's because you feel sneaky. You could tell your bf. I don't think what you describe is guilt worthy. But....I read that facebook is responsible for 28% of divorces, so I suppose this kind of thing does cause it's share of issues.

Well, it's pretty obvious WHY you get a thrill...because you never stopped having feelings for him, and/or like the added attention from someone you were with. I know I have my own views on monogamy, as I don't believe in it, but I also don't believe in undermining one relationship to carry out another in secret. That's just silly and unfair. If you can be woman enough to brazenly commit a big no-no (well, its not bad if you talk to an ex, but it IS bad if you start drumming up old feelings), you can be woman enough to tell your current boyfriend you have feelings for him. It's called being honest. It's fair if he doesn't like it, or even breaks up with you, because you're hiding it, and damn near lying about it. But that's the price you pay. So I'd say, decide if you like this other guy, then fess up if your feelings are still there. If not, then you just need to stop, have a good talk with your dude, and move on with him.

hmmm.... You should feel that way. Its definitely wrong to be exited to receive a message from a guy when you had a boyfriend. Especially, if its from your ex.

Do you feel you don't get enough attention off your boyfriend? Cos you can't be if you're looking for more attention elsewhere. Or you're just an attention wh*re in which case you're going to end up hurting a lot of people regardless.

Totally agree with jocupcake... And if you get so excited maybe its because you still have feelings for him.

You feel guilty about it huh? Then cut it out. How would you feel if your boyfriend were doing this to you?

Stop responding to the messages. Who's more important, your boyfriend or your ex? You might be getting a bit of a thrill from his messages because you're doing it in secret. Some people get off on stuff like that. Stop and the feeling will pass.
