We've Got the Sexy Scoop on Country's New Heartthrob Jackie Lee

Get ready to get to know Jackie Lee — a 23-year-old singer/songwriter from Tennessee who was recently named one of Nashville's most eligible bachelors, and for good reason! The adorable former high school football star is the full cowboy crooner package — good looks, a laid-back charm, and a sexy voice to boot. Jackie, who's currently working on his debut album, hit our hot country singer radar when he released his first single, "She Does," last September, and his second single, "Headphones," debuted on the radio this week. I chatted with Jackie about his new heartthrob status and the fact that he's not technically a bachelor any more now that's he paired up with a fellow singer (and let's hope he's careful about putting her in a country song).

Check out our interview to find out what Jackie finds sexy in a woman, his favorite love song, and what his first date involved with his "unbelievable" girlfriend. To learn more about the up-and-coming country star — including his celebrity crush! — watch the video below:

POPSUGAR: Did any real-life relationships inspire songs in your album?

Jackie Lee: Yeah, as far as girls go, there are definitely songs in there that reflect relationships. But I've been blessed enough to really not have any bad heartbreaks. My relationship with my family is honestly what I cling to, and watching my mom and dad and watching my grandparents. I'll always write from personal stories of my own, but I try to pay attention to things they've gone through and kind of feed off that.

PS: Do you think that heartbreak or love is easier to write about?

JL: I feel like love is the hardest thing to write about. Heartbreak is a very specific feeling. Love is that thing that you can never put your finger on, that you can never hold down. Sometimes it's overwhelming, in such a good way, that you don't know how to describe it. So to sit down and try to write a song about how you feel is almost impossible because in my mind there's no way that I will be able to truly explain — especially in a song — how I feel.

PS: You were recently named one of Nashville's most eligible singles. How was that experience?

JL: It was great! The billboard worked. I have a girlfriend now. [laughing] I am no longer a bachelor. I told someone about that the other day, and I was like, "The label paid big money for me to get a girlfriend with that ad."

PS: How did you come to meet your girlfriend?

JL: My girlfriend is Taylor Dye from Maddie & Tae. I'm actually at Cracker Barrel eating lunch with her family right now in Nashville. But yeah, I did a show with Taylor — the only show we've done with each other. We were in San Jose, CA, last October. I asked her out on our first date exactly seven days later. She's such an unbelievable person, and I'm a very, very lucky guy.

PS: So tell me what dating's like in Nashville?

JL: Well, if you find the right person, it's awesome! I moved here in 2010 and started living on my own, and I never had a girlfriend. I just really focused on the music, and I didn't want — not that having a girlfriend was a distraction — I just felt like that's where my time needed to be, and I felt like it would be unfair to someone. I never really had a girlfriend, just went on dates until I met Taylor five years later in California.

PS: What did you guys do for your first date?

JL: Our first date we went to a pumpkin patch. I didn't want to do a typical dinner and movie. So I picked her up, and we went to a pumpkin patch, we had dinner, we carved our pumpkins, and we ended the night at a haunted house. So our first date was fun.

PS: Do you have a favorite country love song?

JL: Probably "My Favorite Memory" by Merle Haggard. The way he writes is very specific and very to the point. Just the way he works so many things in there you can almost feel that he did every one of those things. I just love that. They're very simple things, it's not like some extravagant love song, it's just very simple things that I can identify with.

PS: What makes a woman sexy?

JL: Confidence. I'll just use Taylor as an example. One thing that I just love so much about her is that she is so driven. She doesn't let me make excuses, she doesn't make excuses, and she knows what she wants. She's just so confident. When I'm looking for someone who I think is sexy, that's what I look for. Not that you have to have your life figured out, but know what you want and go for it. Don't be scared.

PS: Are there any duets in your future?

JL: If Carrie Underwood ever called me, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

PS: Not Taylor?

JL: Oh! Yeah, of course — that's a given!

PS: I'm going to tell her you said that!

JL: [laughing]

PS: Is there anything people would be surprised to know about you?

JL: I feel like I'm OCD about so many things. I have to get to the airport like two and a half hours before the flight leaves because I'm scared I'm going to lose it. Every time I eat out, like at lunch, I clean the table when I'm done because I can't stand for it to be messy. Just little things like that I'm just super-duper OCD about.
