What Is Your Favorite Jane Austen Novel?

It seems fit to honor famed author Jane Austen today, as a film all about her most obsessed fans, Austenland, hits theaters this weekend. Unlike Emily Dickinson, much is unknown about the prolific writer from Bath, England. If we don't know her through her novels, then we know her through the movie adaptations: loose interpretations of her work like Bridget Jones's Diary and Clueless or the biographically based Becoming Jane. But let's focus on her novels — which do you love the most?

I liked Emma but never read any of the others.

I feel like such a philistine when I say Jane Austin bores me to death. I tried to read Pride and Prejudice, and I didn't even make it to 10th page. Then again, I read thriller novels. :p

Emma and Pride and Prejudice! I love Emma and Elizabeth's characters and Mr. Darcy and Mr. Knightly don't hurt either...

I voted for Mansfield Park. It is the last one I read. Of course, P&P is my favorite, but it is not even in the same category, it is so great, so I want to honor a different one. For you Persuasion lovers, there are two movies of it that you can rent. One is better, I think the newer one, but both are nice. If you love Jane Austen, will you please rent Lost in Austen, a 3 hour Brit mini-series. It is delicious.

I will always love P & P because it introduced to me Jane Austen, but think that I like Persuasion and Northanger Abbey more

I love Persuasion because of the end. I love Wentworth's letter, and the way that he gave it to her. If you haven't read it, definitely read it!

Her books have never been my favorite, but of all of them, I like Sense & Sensibility the best.

Pride and Prejudice of course! I can read that one over and over again and never get tired of it. My least fav was Manfield Park, I constantly wanted to kick Fanny Price for being such a wet rag. And I forgot it was Jane's birthday today, she shares the same birthday as my little girl! :D

How can you make me choose? Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion are my top 2. I like the lightness and brightness of P&P but I like the slightly more reflective tone of Persuasion. Way too tough question

my book club just read Persuasion... it was really hard to get into. I've felt that with all her books, but if you're committed to it they can be very wonderful

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite. I read it in 10th grade and since then it has been one of my favorite books.

I love all six, but my fav is S&S. The sister relationship is so real...they love each other, but don't understand each other. I think a lot of people can relate to that.
