Flashback: The 2000 Election

In honor of George W. Bush's last day as president of the United States, I broke into Comedy Central's archive to dig out some of Jon Stewart's coverage of the 2000 Election. OK — just kidding. I didn't break any laws. But, the network did put together highlights of Jon's early coverage of a man he came to mock often. Since today is the end, take a look back at how it all began.

Come on Dave...the "right" side really isn't the right side! When are you going to join us on the "left" being right!? ;) You know you love everything that comes out of Jon Stewart's mouth...even just watching his facial expressions can be very entertaining!

Obama (and the democrats/liberals) aren't untouchable. If you watched The Daily Show or the Colbert Report on a regular basis, you'd probably notice that (just as if I watched Hannity or O'Reilly on a regular basis, I'd...learn something new?). People always go on and on about how the mainstream media give democrats a free pass, but, uh, Bush was president for 8 years. So I don't really see how that's such a big deal given that the RNC has been "in charge" of America for the past 8 years. I also remember the night of the 2000 election. I was laid up in the hospital with gastroenteritis. I was one month shy of being able to vote for the first time, and the election coverage didn't make me feel any better. :)

"He described himself as a compassionate conservative, which means he is lying about one or the other. At least we know he can bull*bleep*" Jon StewartThe first 20 seconds are all I need to see. GWB, you are correct, you inherited half your dad's friends and all his enemies. It's only sort of funny because it's also so sad. I hope these "comedians" rear their ugly heads on Obama as quickly as they did Bush, but I also know that in their minds, Obama can do no wrong.
