Flashback: Women Want One Thing — A Better Copy Machine

This vintage ad reminds us of something any viewer of Mad Men already knows: using a copy machine used to be a woman's job, and only a woman's job. If I were these women, I might demand something else besides long, short, and dimensional copies. How about less polyester . . . or men who know that they, too, have the ability to make copies?

Hiding - not unlike how she related EVERYTHING to Real Housewives of Trashyville a few months ago. I think that the sugar sites get sponsorship money for mentioning shows in "natural" ways. :oy: I think the ad is kind of funny, looking back at it.

This reminds me of an incident. My boss asked me to help on a project for a client. The client had never met me in person, but we spoke over the phone many times in the course of working on this project. The first time I met the client, he said to me "You're not a secretary? You went to college?" No,silly, I'm not a secretary! I'm the engineer who's been doing everything you're requesting since my boss couldn't do it!I also once had a colleague tell me that "Women can't be good engineers. They belong at home with the children."Sexism is alive and well!
