Friday Feel Good: Another Adorable Loris

Meet Sonya the Loris. She enjoys the simple pleasures of life — eatin' snacks, sitting on mom's lap, and getting scratched under her furry pits. Don't judge her because her midday snack appears to be a grub worm or maggot. (I certainly can't — I eat that movie theater nacho cheese sauce!) Anyway, here's to hoping your Friday is as relaxed and pleasure-filled as Sonya's. This video is a good start.

Ya Phil I noticed the poor baby doesn't have any teeth. They are beyond adorable but it is sad that they're taken from their mothers and de-fanged.

Oh I watched it again, the cuteness hurts. It's much too cute.

Indeed, Amanda-La. Notice in most (probably all video featuring a domestic setting) of the videos making their rounds around the internet that the slow loris' teeth are missing (most notably, they should have some relatively huge canines). Those involved in the commoditization of the slow lorises cut or remove the teeth of the animals to stop the function of what is their primary defense mechanism. These cruel practices often lead to fatal infections.

I wish I saw what you guys see because that animal is not cute to me. It's kind of creepy, like a chuckie doll or something, with those great big eyes. Glad to learn about a new animal, though, as I've never heard of this.

Ya i researched them after I saw that video which may be the cutest thing I've EVER seen. I was reading that they secret a poison from there elbows which they lick and then bite you. Ouch time. And they spray their whole lives.

Oh, noooooo...

Slow lorises are overwhelmingly cute (and if you don't want that dampered, don't read on) but there's an alarming reality about slow lorises and the illegal pet trade that is surely being exacerbated by the meme of internet videos featuring the pretty, endangered primate. It seems many of these videos of slow lorises I've seen are in the setting of a home and not of a zoo, which doesn't help ease worries.

I recently saw Jack Hanna on Letterman with a slow loris, and laughed so hard.
