Enough already with the recount.

I'm curious as to what you mean by "....yes the first ones werent from here" Do you mean were born before the US was a nation or weren't born on the North American continent? Because all our presidents have been born on what would eventually become US soil. May have not been "US citizens" at the time of being born but they were all born here. In fact like 4 out of the first 5 were born in Virginia (the other was Mass).

That's all well and good for his family members and the world in general, but what has he done for CaliFornia?

He did show his softer side when he reunited with his long lost mutant twin in order to find their birth mother.

What about last Christmas eve when he procured the turbo man doll, against all odds. Or that time when he came back from the future to kill Sarah Connor, in order to prevent the future from happening.

What has Arnold done for Cali? This isn't the first time he's gone after state worker salaries because of the budget, he really wanted us to vote to get the Native Americans to kick in more of their money for the state - I don't see that he's done anything impressive on the budget since he got in, not just recently.

I think our darn legislature needs to act like adults and make compromises with each other. This includes CUTTING the budget not raising taxes. We all are having to live within a budget, and these rough times are making even the best of us cut back. They need to do the same. And in these rough times, a tax increase (or fee increase as the Dems call it) will only hurt our economy. People will cut back spending even more, further perpetuating the problem.

I hope Franken doesn't become a senator. We have enough crazies on the hill already.

Jessie- their kids can become president Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in those gaps. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States at birth:" * Anyone born inside the United States * Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person's status as a citizen of the tribe * Any one born outside the United States, BOTH of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S. * Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national * Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year * Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21 * Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time) * A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S. Anyone falling into these categories is considered natural-born, and is eligible to run for President or Vice President.

CG what about naturalized citizens. My teacher had one her kids in Japan when her husband took an architecture job there. Despite both parents being US citizens and being raised in the US one of their two children can't be president. That seems silly to me.

How frakkin' long does it take to do a recount? Jeez.

Isn't every other state broke? I like Arnold, he's done a lot of good for CA but the budget problem is really a reflection of the nations problems. Plus all he's done and continues to do for the environment is awesome! On a side note I don't see the point in not letting foreign born citizens run for president, the first American's weren't born here and the US isn't going to elect someone they don't want.

I love Schwarzenegger saying he'd love to be president as the the 'California could be broke in two months' reports make headlines.
