I love that answer - it raises all kinds of possibilities about things you've said in the past!

"Yet you voted to keep those spending Republicans in office? " Actually, no I didn't. Nice try though.

"And to 'spend, spend, spend' would be hypocritical behavior on the part of politicians who claim to be fiscally conservative and controlled Congress from 2000 through 2004, wouldn't it?" Shock and surprise, that would be why they aren't in power anymore." Yet you voted to keep those spending Republicans in office? "will find a new home in the democratic party." Guess that's what McCain & Palin learned in November.

"That would be a failure on his part, correct?" That's what I said. Thanks for paying attention. Shock and surprise, that would be why they aren't in power anymore. "So, why should anyone be listening to the GOP now?" Do you quit listening to your daughter when she makes a mistake, or do you scold her and consider the problem done? The GOP needs to clean house, and they are in that process. Those who are fiscally conservative will hopefully be able to stick around, and those who can't spend our money fast enough will find a new home in the democratic party.

Bush was responsible for not overseeing the spending bills, which is what I said. Get your glasses off and read my comments please.
stephley stephley 7 years
Was Bush actually responsible for anything that happened while he was president Dave? You blame Clinton for everything as he came in, now - all of the sudden - there was too much spending while he was president because of a Republican congress he couldn't control?
UnDave35 UnDave35 7 years
I agree as well, that the administration should've written the bill. He trusted congress to do the right thing, and they did to him what the repugnacans did to Bush in 2000-2004, which was spend, spend, spend.

If the stimulus bill takes too long to pass thousands more people will lose their jobs, more major businesses will be bankrupt and the mess will be that much more beyond anyone's comprehension.
stephley stephley 7 years
I agree Hypno, the Administration should have written the bill.

First of all I agree that there was way too much so called pork in the stimulas bill, but I don't blame the President for that only that he may have had too much trust in the Congress to write a good bill. I think the Administration should have written the bill. IMO Every one is not going to be pleased Undave in fact my bet is no matter how much fat they trim off we'll still have a majority unhappy with it.
UnDave35 UnDave35 7 years
hypno - It's not necessarily time. It's that if it takes too long to pass, then the public will actually have time to read all of the extra pork in the package, and get really angry about the spending, and have an opportunity to stop it.

Carrie I'm much more likely to change the subject.

Yes, I'm glad people are actually focusing on the issues too, sugr...except for some people who seem intent on changing the subject every time it comes up! (*cough* stephley)

I've been worried about money wasted on unnecessary wars and prisons for almost a decade now. After watching the news all weekend and several reports from Davos, I'm pressuring my congress people to dump the tax cuts and stimulus up that bill.

I'm enjoying the backlash from the stimulus bill. It's refreshing to hear people concerned about government waste.

Netanyahu is "the prevoker" I wouldn't vote him in unless I planned on picking a fight. Obama is under pressure from time, silly avatars.
