Front Page: Kenya Declares Holiday to Celebrate Obama

  • Kenya has declared Thursday a public holiday to celebrate the election of Barack Obama to the US presidency. Obama's father was from Kenya, and his victory has prompted jubilation across the country. — BBC News
  • After a heated, divisive campaign, fueled by a record $73 million in spending, California voters appear to be backing Proposition 8, which would change the state constitution to ban same-sex marriage. With more than half the vote counted, the measure was piling up huge margins in the Central Valley but losing in every Bay Area county but one. — San Francisco Chronicle
  • The senate race in Minnesota seems headed for a recount. Republican Sen. Norm Coleman finished ahead of Democrat Al Franken early Wednesday in the final vote count, but his 571-vote margin falls within the state's mandatory recount law. — Associated Press
  • With the Democrats celebrating a Barack Obama presidency, as well as an increase in their majority control of Congress, the attention now turns to the hard part: legislating. — ABC News

I agree, Obama has really spread happiness around the world for so many reasons. Now I hope he keeps his promises to try all he can to get this country to wear most of us want and need it to be in the future.

Its so sad that we take a huge step forward with Obama and a huge step backwards with prop 8... I live in Florida too and I'm not proud of this state at all. I wonder if people were focused on what person would be elected to presidency to really notice what else they were voting for...

California. Arizona. Sad. Again, religious intepretations reign supreme here in Floriduh. How foolish and ill-informed of voters not to understand Amendment 2 affects ALL couples. I'm embarrassed as a Floridian. Hate is not new to Florida, now its apart of our Constitution.
