mydiadem, since both pilots were killed, I would imagine that it "nosed in". The casualties probably were where the plane broke apart. The safest part is probably over the wings, it is definitely the smoothest in rough weather, since that is the planes fulcrum, and because of wing stress, the strongest part. Next to the Emergency Exits is a bit safer, and as far forward as you can get. If the pilot has any control of the plane he will try to keep the plane from nosing into the ground. The fact is though there have been cases where the only survivors were close to the tail, or right behind where it broke apart. Flying is safer then driving, on a per mile traveled basis. If the U.S. published daily how many people were killed or hospitalized duo to auto accidents, complete with the goriest pictures of the day, you would hide under a bed.

hahah! this is the weakest defense ever Chris Matthews says: "I was taken aback by that peculiar stagecraft, the walking from somewhere in the back of this narrow hall, the winding staircase looming there, the odd antibellum look of the scene," Matthews said in a script for his "Hardball" show on Wednesday. "Was this some mimicking of a president walking along the state floor to the East Room?"

So, when Obama speaks, the stock market goes down. Is there a correlation?

Its awful about the plane crash, is it wrong that I'm curious about exactly how those 9 people died? If I'm ever in that situation I'd like to know how to survive it.

So sad about the airplane crash. I'm not at all surprised about the stock market. As Hainan said, doom and gloom to wonders for the stock market.

barely-audible editorializing = "Oh, God" Its kind of funny, but yeah, totally unprofessional. The new housing numbers sure aren't helping the market either.
