The Sex and the City prequel series, The Carrie Diaries, premiered last night, and the new show follows a teen Carrie Bradshaw in the early '80s. This fun flashback — hello, neon fashion and big hair — took us back to the cheesy, girlie '80s flick Girls Just Want to Have Fun for obvious reasons: it stars the original Carrie, Sarah Jessica Parker, as the new girl at a Catholic high school with dreams of winning a TV dance competition. The '80s teen movie is packed with hilarious lines on sex and dating, especially from Janey's (SJP) best friend, Lynne (played by Helen Hunt). Take a trip back to the decade of side ponytails and leg warmers with these quotes from Girls Just Want to Have Fun!
Janey's dad: "You're too young to go out at night, except for the occasional supervised school activity. When you're 18, then you're entitled to some nightlife. Now we had a deal, remember?"
Janey: "We made a deal when I was 7 and a half and nightlife was The Muppet Show!"
