Going to College For Your MRS Degree

Did You Go to College For Your MRS Degree?

When I saw this hilarious photo on Imgur (titled "goals"), I got to thinking about the concept of finding your spouse in college — something we jokingly call going to college for your "MRS degree." Or maybe that's just something we joked about, since I attended a ring by Spring university.

While I hate the gender stereotyping associated with the idea that the goal of higher education is to find "the one," the truth is a lot of people meet their spouse in college. After all, what other time in your life will you be surrounded by so many (sort-of) like-minded, mostly single, not-yet-career-focused, often-drunk people in your age range? I kid, but I genuinely want to hear from you — were you looking for your spouse in college? And either way: did you? Full disclosure: I had terrible luck with the menfolk during my collegiate tenure and was for sure not on the spouse hunt (but it happened anyway).

Oh yeah, and the graduate in the photo added that those are her older sisters, who are "lovely, well-educated, independent women — they're simply engaged, too." Aw.
