Good Idea or Bad Idea: Fantasizing Together

People think differently about so many issues, and when it comes to the bedroom, things can get very complicated and very painful. I read somewhere that Will and Jada Pinkett Smith feel comfortable dicussing with each their sexual fantasies, but they're also very clear about monogamy and commitment.

What do you think? Assuming you both agree about the topic, does it seem -- in general -- like a good idea or a bad idea to discuss with your partner the people you fantasize about, be them celebrities or neighbors?

I agree with popgoestheworld -- fantasising about someone you know is too close to home, but celebrities or imagined figures or situations keeps it clearly in the never-never. And surely fantasies can be about you and your partner, instead of (or, I suppose, as well as) other people -- in which case, surely they're ideal to explore together?

It's tempting but wrong. When you have sexual fantasies (which we all do) being with someone else, than it takes away the joy of when you're with your husband someday.

Agreed with popgoesthe world. One of my guy friends told me once that he fantasizes about his girlfriends sister :O I can't even imagine how much I would obsess if my boyfriend told me something like that. Celebs are different though its a whole world away. Me and my boyfriend have the same list and if I run into James Franco, Johnny Depp or Wentworth Miller I'm gonna consider taking full advantage of my list

for me, i couldn't do this. i'm so horribly insecure that i get really depressed when i find out he thinks someone else is sexually attractive, even if it is a celebrity.

I think that telling your significant other which celebrities you think are hot and would mess around with is on a whole different level than telling your sig other about a neighbor you fantasize about! My boyfriend and I have decided that if we ever have a chance with celeb X we're allowed to take it and so on. But it's easy to say that, knowing that neither of us stands a chance! :) A neighbor or friend is too personal - and too possible! It would just make me uncomfortable.

I am very boring when it comes to this! I don't know man..I think fantasy is fiction and i like to stick with reality. I don't find fantasy appealing. Perhaps it's a lot to do with the fact that I believe in an eastern religion. I was taught to learn to live with reality, good or bad, and try to cope wit it. Boring huh!
