First and foremost; Harry Potter was not, is not and never will be "the best series of all time". Secondly the Star Wars prequels suck... all three. Thirdly even Lord of the Rings, despite it being an epic tale, is still a rehash of an old idea... not to mention the majority of it was a trilogy about walking. As posted above, there are only 10 original stories. And just for my own satisfaction here's the character similarities between the three tales: Order of the Pheonix = The Rebellion = The Fellowship - Good guys Death Eaters = The Empire = Army of Mordor - Bad Guys Harry = Luke = Frodo - The hero Ron = Han = Samwise - The best friend Hermione = Princess Lea = Arwen - The girl Haggrid = Chewbacca = Gimli - The furry protector Dumbledore = Yoda = Gandalf - The Guru Snape = Darth Vader = Saruman - Good/Bad Guy Voldemort = Emperor Palpatine = Sauron - The ultimate evil Sirius Black = Obi Wan = Aragorn - Estranged mentor Fred & George = C3PO & R2D2 = Meri & Pippin - Comic relief Cedric Diggory = Lando = Legolas - The ladies man Lucius Malfoy = Boba Fett = Gollum = Secondary villain In summation, those of you who were making a big stink about this didn't think your arguments through. Those of you who were relatively indifferent this doesn't really concern you. Finally, not one of you knows how to write! Your responses were riddled with spelling and grammatical errors, so before you try to debate with strangers at least check your work. It's best not to look illiterate when having a debate over literature. And if anyone wants to argue that this is about film not literature movies com from scripts, again check your work. Just to reiterate, most of you are dumb, one of you is on the right track, but only one of us has nailed it. Good day 4 years Ammugonevil, seems like a stoner riding on the coattails of George Lucas' C*ck. Girl Get a Life, open your eyes, and perhaps read a book or two. Further to point out the obvious (revelations for you, dearest): there are only X ideas in the world, but it is how you develop these ideas that make a truly unique story line. 5 years HARRY POTTER IS NOT PLAGERISED!! IF YOU CAN'T SEE BEYOND SIMPLE PLOT DETAILS THAT BARELY CONTRIBUTE TO THE LARGER PICTURE AND LOVE TO SPEND YOUR TIME TRYING TO FIND THE SLIGHTEST SIMILARITY BETWEEN HP AND STAR WARS, YOU'RE JUST LAME!!! THE PRINCESS IN STAR WARS IS SUPPOSED TO BE BEATIFUL- HERMIONE IS DEPICTED OTHERWISE IN THE FIRST BOOK!! HAGRID IS NOT THE WISE GUY; DUMBLEDORE IS. SLYTHERIN ISN'T THE MAIN EVIL, IT'S VOLDEMORT! RON AND HERMIONE ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM LUKE'S BUDDIES! STOP FALSELY ACCUSING THE BEST SERIES OF ALL TIME!!! 5 years Oh and Harry is poorly acted? No. Hans Solo is poorly acted. Nothing about any of these characters is really all that likeable. Harrison Ford cannot act! He cannot! 5 years Star Wars is the lamest. True space nerd material. Same basic concepts in both maybe, but at least Harry gets you more invested in the characters. Star Wars is look at what planet or ship we're going to fight in next and oh look some weird new alien. Wow. snooze 5 years the source image is broken on B3ta, i made this and had it posted up there several years ago. the earlier post quote "That wouldn't earn you the funny rejection slip from MAD Magazine." Funnily enuff, a few days after this went up on the B3ta board, John Ficcara, editor of Mad magazine, contacted me to 1: ascertain that i had done it, and 2: invite me to become a contributor to Mad. Anyhow, enough of the defensiveness, i am off. 6 years Dont thinks so, Lord of the rings is good, even great however nothing tops star wars dude... nothing!!!!!, harry potter is lame, the author condensed a whole load of ideas from various authors and relabeled the book, ive day dreamed better, and the last beeks were pathetic i only read them to see how they ended. The end game was poor, the final battle was too common, and seriously how does harry potter compare with LOTR let alone star wars. And the harry potter movies are so poorly acted, what with the watson chick iminateing windscreen wipers with her eye brows and the potter dude indifferent acting.... makes the phantom menace forgivable, ( im not jumping the band waggon I liked the prequel movies) Eelboy 8 years Harry Potter equals Star Wars? Hell, why would the producers want to make that connection, when "The Lord of the Rings" surpassed Star Wars already? Of course, maybe Harry Potter has a shot at equalling "Lord of the Rings", considering he's coming from a major British literary source, but I doubt it. It all depends on how the last two films in the series, "The Half-Blood Prince" and "The Ghastly Hallows", depict the ultimate confrontation between Good and Evil. But I think the films, though destined to be classics, will probably hover somewhere just below Middle Earth and a galaxy far, far away. So much for aesthetics, however. On to this bit of "humor." And this thing isn't funny because it relies on broad plot generalities to draw parallels. That wouldn't earn you the funny rejection slip from MAD Magazine. Keep trying, though, and perhaps you'll earn a smile from me. But for now... :-( steph_b_247 8 years Wow! That's pretty funny. But I still really like the Harry Potter books.
