Huckabee Says Lieberman Would Be "Disastrous" VP Pick

Huckabee Says Lieberman Would Be "Disastrous" VP Pick

Click to Read

Huckabee Says Lieberman Would Be "Disastrous" VP Pick Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said pro-life Republicans like himself would not not take too kindly to Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) as a running mate for John McCain. "Let's be honest with each other. It would be disastrous choice because, first of all, it's going to alienate many people in the Republican Party, particularly the conservative pro-life, pro-family base," said Huckabee, the last active candidate to win a Republican primary against McCain.

Maybe Lieberman will whisper in McCain's ear, "Pick Me".

Of course, it will be Romney. Gore made a big mistake when he picked Lieberman.

"he would alienate parts of the Republican party and wouldn't draw that many Dems over to replace those votes"IMO, I don't think that too many Republicans would feel any more alienated with him on the ticket (versus where he is right now as a top advisor). I think Romney or Crist would be the most beneficial choice for McCain. Romney has the economy experience, so that would probably be McCain's best bet.

Am I the only one who finds Huckabee cute for some reason? I disagree with nearly everything he says, but for some reason he seems supremely huggable. Is it just the name? :?

Wouldn't conservatives pick McCain over Obama no matter what? I think Huckabee would be a way worse pick than Lieberman. Although I must say I have a soft spot in my heart for Huckabee. He would just bring the ticket too far to the right to appeal to many middle-of-the-roaders.

I can't see that Lieberman would be of much benefit to McCain - he would alienate parts of the Republican party and wouldn't draw that many Dems over to replace those votes, and it wouldn't be seen as a bi-partisan gesture to the Dems.
