Jack White and Karen Elson Divorce Party

Jack White and Wife Throw Divorce Party Together

Divorce parties are nothing new, but what about throwing one with your soon-to-be ex? Former White Stripes front man Jack White and wife Karen Elson are doing just that! The couple sent out an invitation (see above) that could easily be mistaken for a wedding invitation if you didn't read the fine print: "Karen Elson + Jack White kindly request the presence of . . . at a party to celebrate their 6th anniversary, and their upcoming divorce with a positive swing bang hum dinger."

While my first reaction was that the event would just be too awkward for friends and family to go through, in their statement about the party it's clear they are doing it to have healthy, positive closure for the sake of their children. What do you think about throwing a party with your ex to celebrate the end of your relationship?

I think it's great that they're divorcing so amicably, but more importantly Jack White is single. That is really all I got out of this article.

I don't see anything wrong with this. It's a clear sign for everyone they know that there's no animosity, and I would appreciate knowing that about my friends. One-sided divorce parties however are incredibly unhealthy though.. the ones where one party throws a party (hah) because they're so happy to be rid of their partner.

Ditto to exactly what Shannon said. Not doubt it's a little weird, though.

Doubt I would ever hold a party like this, and I don’t know how old the kids are, but I can see that it could send a positive message that despite the divorce, there is some family unity where the children are concerned. Of course, this is easier said than done once mom & dad move on to other partners & other children, but maybe they’re starting the post-marriage period on the right note.

Lol, they're so cool. Perfect if they feel that way.

I have mixed feelings about this, but there's also something oddly positive about it. Very rock 'n roll, I guess.
