James Von Brunn's Son Wishes Dad Had Died Instead

“The wrong man died that day, yes. I love my father, but what he did was unforgiveable.”

— Erik Von Brunn, son of James von Brunn, the gunman who shot and killed security guard Steven Johns at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC. Johns leaves behind an 11-year-old son who said about his father, “He was a loving father and he was also my hero.” To watch the Good Morning America interview with Erik von Brunn, click here.

It is sad. I agree, there's nothing to be said about it, except it's a terrible tragedy. I also feel for parents of children in court. My dad used to say, You can pick your nose, and you can pick your friends, but you can't pick your relatives. (In a southern accent) Sorry I know a joke like that doesn't really make it any better.....

i'm glad that the son knows better than the father. he SHOULD'VE been the one to die that die if he couldn't tolerate a world with different races and ethnicities, he should've taken HIMSELF out of it, not other innocent people. now an 11 year old boy has to grow up without a father because of this bigoted piece of sh*t.

I second that, Sham - can someone please start an optimistic, positive news network?

It's hard sometimes to not feel despairing about the human race. For every story about a white supremacist psycho killing someone in a very sad and sacred memorial museum I feel like I need to hear 10 stories about rescued puppies and happy children.

At least he acknowledges the "assitude" of his father. We can't choose our parents and he's rightfully upset.A little boy lost his father who was deemed worthy of living. A grown man has a living father who deserves the hell he'll pay soon.
