Jealous of Married Friends

Sunday Confessional: I'm Jealous of My Married Friends

This week's confession comes from our anonymous Confession Booth group in the TrèsSugar Community. Weigh in with your advice below.

Whenever I look at people's wedding pictures on Facebook I think their weddings look horrible. But it still makes me jealous I'm not engaged yet.

There's lots of cool stuff going on in our community — join it, check it out, share your posts or advice in the great groups, and maybe we'll feature it here on TrèsSugar!

Facebook is the worst place to be wasting your time if you want to be engaged. Chew on that one.

I hear you, OP. I'm at a time in my life where a lot of my friends are getting engaged or married, having babies, etc. It's rough for me when I have a new friend getting engaged every week. It was made worse earlier this month when it was my and my boyfriend's anniversary; I got asked "so when are you two getting married?" at least 6-7 times. Even though it's hard for me, I try to just chill out and let things happen when they happen. Objectively, I think rushing into marriage is one of the worst mistakes people make, so I know I'm better off just being content where I'm at.

Bluestar, ha! Though maybe the OP's word choice is not as mean as it sounds. Maybe the "ooh, that's so horrible" reaction is from seeing people looking uncomfortable and being made to do something awkward (eg. when people demand the bride and groom kiss whether they feel like it or not, when people decide to prank them, a pic of someone in the middle of an embarrassing speech, etc...) I usually think of myself as a cynic, I enjoy hearing about some of the hilariously ridiculous things people do for their weddings, but for the most part, weddings turn me into a pile of hopeless-romantic mush. I guess I can relate to the tinge of jealousy, but it's not the getting married part that I envy, it's more seeing two people fit so well with each other and thinking: "I kind of wish I have that with somebody." I don't just get that from weddings, the "in a relationship" status on facebook will set that off, too. ;)

Don't worry, one day you'll get engaged and then everyone else can look at your wedding and think about how horrible it is.
