John Edwards Endorsement: Will It Happen Before North Carolina Primary? Many of Mr. Edwards's supporters in North Carolina have been quietly pressing him to endorse Mr. Obama, and a large group of them, led by Ed Turlington, his campaign chairman during the last presidential race, came forward publicly last week to support Mr. Obama. On the other hand, Mrs. Edwards, her husband's closest and most trusted adviser, has made it clear that she favors Mrs. Clinton; aides said she had recently tried to persuade Mr. Edwards to do the same.

No, please don't make us count Lieberman!!!!I think every politician I've met except for Nader seemed like a surgeon - rich and clean in an unnerving way.

It depends on who has asked him to be Vice President.I'll bet Hillary has already asked him . . . ???But from my friends who live in NC, supposedly most North Carolinians don't like John Edwards. I still think Hillary's going to offer him the Vice Presidency.

Actually that's how I met John Edwards and afterwards I turned to him and said "are you serious!?" cause he was heavily endorsing him. He gave me the willies.

Piper, is there a liberal politician that you've met that you did like?

I've met John Edwards twice and I didn't like him either time. There's something very disingenous about the man. He's shady. Like used car salesman shady. Actually comparing him to shady used cars salesmen is an insult to shady used car salesmen.

Correction: I should have said they will pick the guy they disagree with the most if it means they get something....Valid point stephley, but I think the first case is more likely than the second, even if it doesn't always result in something, the people endorsing always consider what it may do for them in the future. If my view holds, I think he'll pick Hillary, she holds a mean grudge if wins, but then again Obama might win and might have a lot to offer?

It isn't that no one wanted him for president, not enough people wanted him at this time. I'm sure the cynical interpretation of an endorsement is largely valid, but I think occasionally, a politician endorses because he actually believes the person being endorsed is best for the job. And an endorsement doesn't always result in a job or even support for a pet project - the cynicism works both ways.

Isn't it weird that no one wants him for president yet everyone seems to care who he wants for president? Either way UnDave, regardless of who he endorses it will be a political decision, meaning "what do I get from this" and won't be a reflection on the policies. I might be a cynic, but I think that's how these endorsements work, politicians will pick the guy they don't agree with the least if it means something in return, rather than actually support the person who they really agree with.

isnt it interesting that even democratic candidates who have dropped out of the race are getting more press than the republicans.

I don't know what I'll do if he endorses Obama. I mean, I can't stand Edwards, but I like Obama. If he endorses Obama, then I will need to rethink my opinion of Obama...

i think if he endorses anyone, he'll go with Elizabeth and endorse Hillary - which makes me hope he'll stay quiet.
