Julia Roberts on Body Image

Well Said: Julia Roberts Loves Herself Now

"Sometimes I, like anybody, wake up in the morning and go, 'F*ck. Really? This is the starting point?' Haven’t you ever picked up a picture of yourself from, like, five years ago, and you look at yourself and you just go, 'And I had no appreciation for how lovely I looked, how fit and healthy I looked.' So now I say, 'Now listen. Ten years from now, you’re really going to think you should have appreciated yourself more.'"

— Julia Roberts tells Entertainment Weekly that as years go by, she's trying to break the old habit of obsessing over her appearance. Just like actress Laura Linney, I think Julia knows the secret to aging is attitude.

When i look back to my 8-14 years old period, i was ugly, truly. Now i'm 18, and i'm starting to think like Julia. Yes there are very bad days when i can't look at myself in the mirror, and other days when i feel okay, or even better : a bit pretty. So yes i wish every woman/young lady to realize that we have to accept ourselves as we are and to take advantage of our youth.

This reminds me of Baz Luhrman's sunscreen... "Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you cant grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked...You're not as fat as you imagine."
