Lesbians Kicked Off Southwest Flight For Kiss

L Word Actress Kicked Off Flight For Kissing Girlfriend

It was unfriendly skies for L Word actress Leisha Hailey when she was escorted off a Southwest flight for kissing her girlfriend. The airlines says it was because of behavior, not gender, and that passengers were complaining that the kissing was "excessive." However, Leisha is calling it discrimination and is rallying for a boycott of Southwest on Twitter, tweeting: "Since when is showing affection towards someone you love illegal?"

I wasn't on the flight, but I seriously doubt Southwest would have taken the same actions against a straight couple kissing. And this isn't the first time lesbians showing affection have been unfairly targeted. It's also not the first time Southwest has been accused of discriminating against a group of people. Last year, actor/director Kevin Smith was kicked off a Southwest flight for being "too fat" to fly. I'd hate to be on the airlines' PR team! What do you think of Southwest's actions against its gay passengers? Would you boycott an airlines for discrimination?

I mean, unless there was some indecent exposure happening, there was no reason to remove them from the plane. I've sat on planes with kids screaming in my ear and kicking my seat. I'd gladly trade that for a couple enthusiastically making out across the aisle from me, no matter who they were.

It's hard to say what exactly transpired, but Southwest Airlines is starting to remind me of the Soup Nazi:--> No baggy pants! No PDA! No BMI > 28! What's next? Banning the elderly?

I doubt that Southwest would kick anyone off a flight for a quick PDA, but I also have no trouble believing that other passengers would complain quicker and more vehemently at the sight of a gay couple kissing than they would a straight one. I don't feel like I'm going out on a limb saying that Southwest was wrong to indulge the hypersensitive, intolerant complainers.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I have a hard time believing that they stole a quick smooch and got kicked off the airplane. i would think there is more to this story.

What is up with Southwest these days? A few weeks ago they kicked off the lead singer from Green Day because he was wearing saggy pants.
