Lighten Up! Jon Stewart Analyzes Bill O'Reilly's Right to Privacy

Lighten Up! Jon Stewart Analyzes Bill O'Reilly's Right to Privacy

Last night Jon Stewart pondered how Bill O'Reilly — a staunch supporter of the constitutional right to privacy — could be outraged over paparazzi stalking celebrities, but have no trouble intimidating his political foes with cameraman ambushes.

Jon mashed up some Factor footage, but also let unedited clips do the work for him. In case you're wondering, an American's right to privacy is less than Bill O'Reilly's need to know.

Is the Bill O'Reilly "check" that flashes between his video segments the same as the citizen "check" icon? Weird coincidence...

Hey I didn't say it was not an invasion of privacy I just made it a point that the difference between the two is really night & day and to compare the two situations for humor sake is fine but come on every investigative reporter in history has confronted individuals or groups to gain information. If you've noticed which I'm sure every one has on 60min, Dateline, 20/20, Primetime etc. etc. they all do the same thing. That's what journalists do confront and ask hard questions and pressing it up to a threshold is IMO acceptable. I will admit however a very few have gone over board. What they do is in no way shape or form comparable to stalking someone 24/7.

Lizlee, you might want to go argue with Bill O. He clearly says that the right to privacy is enshrined in the Constitution - and he is not a liberal.

Hypno - I agree with you, but then again, I'm not a fan of Stewart

I love how people say "right to privacy" as if it is in The Constitution" - can anybody show me? because last time I checked it's all the liberals that whine about their right to privacy when it's NOT EVEN IN THE CONSTITUTION! but of course, the right to life is, and yet they have no problem killing innocent babies...

Bill O could not have gone to school for journalism.

Hypno I do believe there is a huge difference between stalking and confrontation, but O'Reilly's platform was privacy and invading privacy doesn't have a time frame or duration attached. When he confronted the one man when he was out shopping with his family and put his entire family on tv, I think that constitutes an invasion of privacy. So he loses IMO :p.

What constitutional right to privacy? There is no such thing.

The video is hilarious but the simple and legitimate difference is stalking vs. confrontation. When you stalk someone day and night 24/7 it's wrong. When you confront someone once maybe even twice in spirit of public interest to clear up an issue that is apparently important enough to do so then that transgression in my opinion is tolerable and holds no comparison to what paparazzi do to celebrities. So sorry John, Bill wins this one IMO.

Haha Jon Stewart is so funny. Political views aside, I hate how Bill O'Reilly says one thing and does another. He's just a loud mouth hypocrite.

I hate that the Factor does this. OReilly's got some good points and this just makes him look like an ass, I wish he'd knock it off and leave the ambushing to TMZ.
