McCain Confronted With New Iran Gaffe, Gets Facts Wrong Again Yesterday, Time's Joe Klein noted that he could find no evidence that Sen. Barack Obama had ever specifically said he would negotiate with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Later in the day, Klein confronted McCain with this question at a press conference. For a foreign policy "expert," McCain clearly has a pattern of getting the basic facts wrong. McCain insisted that ultimate political authority in Iran rests with Ahmadinejad — even mocking Klein when he challenged him on it.

There have been 57 contests during the primary season, so it is an understandable mistake. He doesn't cling to that figure like a drowning man in the ocean....like McCain has clung to his many incorrect statements.

We can use a few more states, not a problem. But seriously, Bluemango, Obama just misspoke and if someone had corrected him, he would have just laughed and corrected himself. But with McLame when someone corrected him, he dug himself deeper into the hole.

I think Bush's foreign policy book also contains the lesson that if you can convince the average American of something (Sadam Hussein was responsible for 9/11...as mentioned in the article), then it must be true!

Well, he's really taken a page from Bush's foreign policy book: Never admit you're wrong no matter how many people have to die for it!

This is just going to get better (worse) as the campaign heats up.

I've never been much of a fan of McCain, but what little respect I did have for him is rapidly dwindling. The Middle East is very complicated, but when you are involved in a region to the extent that the US is, I would think it would be a plus to have some basic understanding of it.

Maybe they can attach Lieberman surgically to McCain's side so he's always there to whisper corrections.
