McCain Criticizes Obama on Iran
The AP reports: "Republican John McCain raised the specter of a nuclear Iran in a speech to a pro-Israel group, once again chastising Democrat Barack Obama for his willingness to meet with leaders of Iran and other US foes. 'It's hard to see what such a summit with President (Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad would actually gain, except an earful of anti-Semitic rants . . .Even so, we hear talk of a meeting with the Iranian leadership offered up as if it were some sudden inspiration, a bold new idea that somehow nobody has ever thought of before,' McCain said as dozens in the audience laughed.

I don't have a digital camera, and I don't usually take pictures of myself. I feel kind of funny having a professional pic up, but I didn't want to go through a lot of effort to find borrow a camera.

What a jerk!! I doubt that is true. Opinions in "the arts" vary so much, and yet everyone thinks that the reality is so obviously written on the wall. The only problem is that there is no 1 answer, and many markets to play to. The good thing is that he sounds like an overall pain to work with, and at least you won't have to work long hard hours with a complete azz. (Can I say azz on here for real with out being flagged?)

I don't think middle school was a picnic for anyone really. I have my own hair issues that took years to tame. My hair is huge and really thick. I can't have it short because it becomes ridiculous. It wasn't until I started growing it really long that I learned that it would weigh it down and make it look normal. BUT I seriously didn't figure that out until like a couple of years ago. LOL I've had many...shall we say "interesting" hair stlyes and cuts. I swear it has only been the last year or so that I've started to feel comfortable in my own skin. There are still set backs though. I had a director yesterday tell me I needed to lose twenty pounds. I hate that! I mean it's not even for film...it's just for stage. Give me a break.

Your EYES have a lot of power, ms. harmony, and there is a lot of strength that comes through them! The ringlets were quite the challenge growing up. My mom has stick straight hair, and didn't know what to tell me! Stylists in my small town were always perplexed as to what to do with it. It was complete trial and error for a good 15 years! Middle school was traumatic!

HAHA but everyone has to be naked! NO...wait a minute. That'll be our power and our power alone. LOL I play a lot of "powerful" women. It's the aquiline nose that I used to hate and have learned to deal with. I've always wanted a cute button nose like yours and ringlets!!!! I'm so jealous.

"McCain's approach is essentially "talk to the hand"" :rotfl: I wish there was a talk to the hand emoticon!!!

Today McCain suggested that the US use "divestment" techniques to pursuade the Iranians. Too bad he didn't know Obama beat him to it!! To divest means to encourage others countries to not invest in things Iran related. In 2007, Obama sponsored an Iranian divestment bill that he claimed would "educate investors and pressure foreign companies to reconsider doing business with Iran by requiring the US government to publish every six months, a list of companies that invest more than $20 Million in Iran's energy sector". The measure has been held up in the senate by Alabama Republican Richard Shelby as a favor for the Bush Administration. Obama is a smarty. :grad: :kool: GTB!

Rac, in all fairness to McCain he has talked about his economic policy, he's said he doesn't know anything about economics. AND you know that's exactly what we need with gas through the roof and housing in the gutter, record breaking bankruptcy....a president who doesn't know anything about economics. I think we would have a better chance with a college freshman who's at least taken economics 101.

Rac I'm starting to worry about you. I think your emoticons are giving you multiple personalities or schizophrenic qualities. Maybe it's time to take a break from them. :dog:

As far as I can tell, McCain really doesn't have any plan except "stay the course". Has he talked about any economic policy? Has he even talked about any cogent foreign policy plan (except mixing up Shiites and Sunnis numerous times)? I mean besides saying what's wrong with Obama, what does this guy want to do except extend Bush's failed policies? :alice: ALICE, I TOLD YOU TO STAY OUT OF THIS!!!!!

McCain's logic is ridiculous. It's like saying, "We've tried to negotiate peace in the middle east and that failed, so why bother trying again?" There are certain things that are important enough that you keep trying. I'm not saying Obama will walk in there and magically everything will be okay. And anyway, talking to a leader is steps away from actually negotatiating with them, so it's a fallacy to say that he is willing to negotiate whereas he's only said he's willing to meet with them. In fact, talking with them is at least 1 step away from meeting with them. How do we know he plans to talk with them once they get in the same room? PS - I'll have to make a mental note that gallup polls aren't valid when I disagree with what they say :)

Ignoring our enemies will not make them go away. Talking ABOUT someone but never TO someone tends to just peeve people off. McCain's approach is essentially "talk to the hand", and that tactic has never resulted in peace!

Exactly what I was going to say Stephley! We tried talking to the Nutjob in North Korea, and as a result progress has been made. It kind of reminds me of Law and Order. If you just let them talk, sometimes they can spill information that can be very helpful to you. (and I am kind of kidding...I know Iran is much more serious than L&O!) And Cine asked how we have seen the McCain plan in action the last 8 years. We haven't tried to negotiate with them during the past 8 years, and I think that speaks for itself. I haven't found a way that McCain differs from Bush in this area, and over the past 8 years Iran has strengthened, not weakened!
