McCain Will Participate in Debate, Campaign Says Sen. John McCain will attend the first presidential debate, scheduled for Friday night, his campaign announced. McCain said earlier this week he would not attend the debate if an agreement had not been reached on a $700 billion bailout plan for Wall Street. The campaign said the Republican presidential nominee believed that enough progress had been made for him to travel to Mississippi to participate in the debate, set for 9 p.m. ET at the University of Mississippi campus.

The debate should be interesting. The subject gives McCain an advantage. But his temper can be a disadvantage. He tends to get a little :FOGEY: at times. I actually expect McCain to do well tonight and for his polling numbers to get a boost from this topic/debate. Obama will do better on other topics I think. I am just looking forward to seeing them finally side by side, taking questions and giving answers... lets get this on!

em I will get to work on that!

haus, I saw a woman on the street holding two of those plastic cupcake holder thingies (I'm sure you have them--these little portable plastic containers that look like a train case for cupcakes) and I wanted to ask her for one. That is how badly your avatar makes me crave cupcakes. You know what would help? If your avatar was scratch-and-sniff. :cookie:

ts - just the silly comments in general, like how mccain spews talking points, as if obama doesn't. how mccain grandstands, as is obama doesn't. it really takes away from obama's credibility to act like he is somehow above the same politicians tricks and spin that has been going on for the last 100 years. he's just a politician, thats all. no better, no worse.

About polling.. this site is interesting. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/latestpolls/index.html It looks at all of the polls and takes an average from all of the combined polls. Interesting. The polls are weird cause even Fox News poll still has Obama leading but Gallup is different. Weird.

Remember when Palin said "...as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where -- where do they go? It's Alaska."? I think a majority of you will find this picture funny! http://www.boingboing.net/images/x_2008/putinrearshishead.jpg

He waited to announce his VP pick to see if Obama would pick Hillary.

Last to announce his VP ...was it a race? if Obama announced his after McCain I dont think McCain supporters would be whining about that do you? Was not last to admit need for regulation, or that there is a problem with economy.....where are you getting this?
Imabeliever Imabeliever 7 years
"The McCain campaign already has ads out declaring McCain the winner of the debate" LOL! McCain's latest move to try to be first to do something. Last to announce his VP Last to allow his VP to talk to reporters Last to admit to the need for regulation Last to admit their is a problem with the economy Last to the party in Washington to try to figure this thing out Arrives after an agreement is on the table and blow it with partisan temper and rhetoric.(my fav is the pic of him marching around with a frown and his fists clenched..very helpful) Last to jump on the band wagon for the debates At least let him be first to declare debate victory

liberalonmymind the new gallup out today shows obama up by 3. and all the polls out in the past couple days show a movement towards obama in the swing states including virgina where in a poll he is up by 5!! obviously this stunt that mccain pulled didnt sit too well with the public. i said it on another thread, the only way mccain would have missed this debate is if he overslept taking one of his pre-debate naps that he has been doing. im glad that the debate is going forward but this whole dog and pony show that mccain has been putting on for the past two weeks(including his stunt of 'suspending' his campaign) just goes to show how what kind of president he would be. i had a feeling that this would blow up in his face and make him look bad. now if its to be believed they want to postpone the VP debate(feel free to correct me, that was the word yesterday)which in my mind would cement the fact that palin was a purely political choice and not because of what she knows. on a lighter note i bet the first time mccain says 'my friends' will be within 5-10 minutes, lol. let the games begin, i cant wait!!!!

The latest Gallup Poll shows that Obama and McCain are tied at 46%.That's such a surprise after the rough two weeks McCain has had. http://www.gallup.com/poll/110668/Gallup-Daily-Race-Back-Tie-46-Each.aspx
