How to Throw a Movie-Themed Bridal Shower

Feb 19 2015 - 4:30pm

We all know brides-to-be can be divas at times, so why not just embrace it by treating her like the star she wants to be? When Jessica Masi of JCG Events [1] was planning her sister's bridal shower, she did just that — come up with this movie-star-themed party. (Although in this case, her sister actually is an actress.) Without being cheesy, the gray, pink, and blue bridal shower incorporates a number of movie-themed details any celeb-obsessed bride would love. Plus, it's perfect for award season! Read on for how to throw your own Hollywood-ready bridal shower.

The star-adorned cake (by Gabriela Xacur of Gourmet Sweets) featured a cutout of the bride-to-be strutting her stuff on a pink carpet. Surrounded by paparazzi, naturally.

For an ice breaker, put a sticker with an actress's name on it on each guest's back, then have everyone ask each other questions to figure out which actress they are.

Glittery blue and pink starbursts jazz up the dessert displays.

This easy and inexpensive project adds a big punch. Order wedding movie posters [2], pop them in cheap frames, and hang them around the room.

In keeping with the theme, these Minted invitations [3] feature marquee-style lettering.

Take your own paparazzi shots with Polaroids on hand.

Use this heart-shaped marquee DIY [4] to make your own cute photo booth prop.

If you know someone with Photoshop skills, have them make a faux film poster with a photo of the bride for guests to sign.

Have a popcorn bar station for guests to add their own seasonings. And mini pink boxes make it even cuter.

You obviously need pink feather boas for photo ops.

Sprinkle star confetti on the tables for added star power.

Bright florals add a pop of color to the tables.

Remember who's the star! Mini cheesecakes are topped with the bride's first initial.

Another fun activity is this printable match the celebrity couple [5] game.

Personalized cocktail napkins add a sweet touch.

Sangria and pink lemonade are served in keeping with the pink theme.

It's all in the details! Tag all the glasses for everyone to keep track of their drinks.

Grouping flowers of the same kind together keeps the look simple and clean — but still pretty.

Have a user-friendly drinking station.

Keep the foods small and classy — definitely award show worthy.

Gray and blue accents offset the girlie pink color theme.
