NRA to Montana: Obama a Threat to Gun Owners

Click to Read

Clear Shot? NRA to Montana: Obama a Threat to Gun Owners The National Rifle Association said Wednesday that Barack Obama's campaign is trying to mislead voters about his past support of gun control, calling the Democratic candidate "a poster child of the extremist, elitist gun control movement." The group was responding to recent remarks by Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, a Democrat who supports gun rights and told reporters this week that Obama "ain't ever going to take your gun away." The NRA said Schweitzer was misrepresenting the candidates' positions.

UnDave, not sure if you're serious or not, so I'll pretend you are. I don't think that would help, since I'm pretty sure you can't shoot somebody for trying to cross the border illegally. I was sort of just kidding about the open-carry thing. I don't really have an opinion on it, but I can see why somebody would prefer concealed carry. Open carry might be a little... distracting. But I do believe every adult ought to be able to carry a firearm if they choose.

Haha, that middle of the road comment really got to you, huh? Out to prove you're still a super conservative?

I think Texas should be an open carry until they get the fence up and stop the Mexican invasion.

I don't think so. But that's obvious, otherwise I wouldn't have said anything.

If you read Jillness' comment #22, I think that she was stating exactly what you just said, Michelin.

Jill, I think I will correct you. Yes, cities should be able to regulate themselves, but NOT when it comes to Constitutionally guaranteed rights. Like the right to own a handgun. It doesn't matter if every single voter in a district supports it, you can't vote away your Constitutional rights. For instance, would it be alright for the citizens of D.C. to vote away their right to an attorney?

"But Obama is a threat to gun owners because he doesn't like guns and doesn't want people to have them."Not true. :-)

I just don't think it is right to take a way a city's right to regulate itself. In order for a gun measure to be passed, the citizens would have to vote on it and support it, correct? A city or state government can't enact restrictions with out their citizens's consent, right? (Please do correct me if I am wrong). :) I have friends that live in rural areas, and I have shot with them many times. I also have MANY friends who have been shot at or who have seen shootings...and I even know someone that was shot to death. I am not anti-gun, because I have lived in the type of environment where guns are in every household. I know they can be very safe. But I have also seen the other side. I just think different areas have different needs in the best interest of public safety. Also, when it comes to this topic, I think there are issues like hollow point bullets that have nothing to do with taking someone's gun away that I think get lumped in with everything else.

Ask Barry Soetoro-Obama this question: What's the difference between trap and skeet? If he doesn't know, he's an elitist anti-gun snob. If you think the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights gives you the right to keep and bare arms, then you are not a true 2nd Amendment Rights voter if you vote for Barry Soetoro-Obama. The places where people are mandated to own a gun, such as Kenesaw, Georgia (USofA), the crime rate plunges. Why? Because the criminals knows he's risking his life if he commits a crime. Criminals are more afraid of guns than they are of elitist snobs.

"I believe that ruling means that there IS a constitutional gurantee to the right to bear arms, its only up to the states to decide what restrictions to place on that right, not strip its citizens of the right entirely." This is pretty much what Obama said following the Supreme Court decision. He said they acknowledged the right to bear arms, but also recognized that regions have the right to regulate it. " Obama is a threat to gun owners because he doesn't like guns and doesn't want people to have them" I am curious as to where you got this?

I like the boyscout mentality; Always be prepared. Do you think people see a mass shooting coming? Maybe if these lunatics see how many people are armed, they won't be so prepared to go on a killing spree. Or at least they won't get very far.

Intriguing that you would just want to be able to carry weapons out in the open for no apparent reason.

That's a ridiculous question. The only thing wrong with Texas is that we don't have open carry :)

What is so wrong with Texas that you need to be carrying weapons out in the open?
Michelann Michelann 8 years
It's pretty radical here in Texas. But you're right, we should be allowed to carry our guns out in the open.

Opposing 'concealed-carry' laws wasn't even radical back in the Wild West.

Exactly Torg. People also seem to forget about the veto power.

Sigh. What people seem to forget, in my estimation, is that the President can't just declare, "No moar guns, mmkay?! Srsly!!"
