Obama Urges Parental Responsibility

Click to Read

Obama Urges Parental Responsibility "Parents if you don't parent, we can't improve our schools," he said. "You've got to parent. You've got to turn off the television set in your house once in a while, you've got to put the video game away once in a while." Obama, who aspires to be the first black president, dwells a little longer on the subject with predominantly black audiences, as he did Thursday in this economically struggling city in the south shore of Lake Michigan.

I agree that "people" aren't stupid enough to fall for that. I think that going after him with anything that can be construed as race related will be political suicide. We'll see if anyone (Hillary Clinton) gets desparate enough to try that strategy though.

But are people really silly enough to believe he's a Muslim? I'd think the Black Liberation angle is the better way to go, and I guess that's why they keep harping on that. If they can prove that Barack is only going to look out for the Black folks it will deter some White voters from supporting him. I personally don't believe the White community is as racist as to fall for that shit hook, line and sinker though. We've all really come of age and the same old race baiting doesn't work as well anymore.

Liberty, I overlooked your question earlier. I would like to respond with what I speculate why that would be such a huge controversy. President has begun a war against Muslim extremists. For the most part, the Muslim community has not come out and said "The attacks on Americans by people of our faith is wrong." either because they are afraid, or they don't think those attacks were wrong. To be able to paint Obama as a Muslim, and a de facto sympathizer for what the extremists have done would be a huge black eye for the Obama campaign.

Piper23, As far as Black Liberation Theology, my father was a minister who believed in this, am I a racist and was I raised incorrectly? The main aspect of the philosophy is that Black people should take responsibility for their own destiny. The philosophy will never ignore racism that exist and has existed to the detriment of the Black community, but urges the community not to use that as an excuse, hence the reason the church does tons of outreach and community organizing.

Society is always going to contradict what you've been taught. It's the job of a responsible parent to raise children who are able to decipher what's right in wrong and not be swayed by others. It's not the school systems responsibility to teach your child values and it's not the school systems fault when kids don't listen to their own parents. It is the parent's fault.

I am sick to death of telling us "parents need to parent. Teachers can't raise your children." Quit effing blaming me! My kids school actively contradicts many of the good values I try so hard to teach them. I have two bright kids, and the poor quality of their schools has turned my son into a slacker and turned my daughter off to learning almost completely. My daughter has been mugged twice at school, and my son has been cornered (by a group of 4-5) and hit up for his spare change. He's only a sophomore, and she spent on year away on an exchange program. My son is actively disrespected by his English teacher for his traditional American profile. (Boy Scout, NJROTC) My daughter assists in his class, as she has a free period, and she confirms this. The same teacher grades preferentially: attractive females are scored higher, and are more likely to get a referral to journalism (regardless of writing skills). Several of their teachers have been unable to maintain control of a classroom. And we're in one of the better high schools, in a high-achieving magnet (which they house on a regular campus, with many classes mixed magnet & regular). I'd love to see one of these self-righteous, elitist politicians send their kids to public school in a "normal" neighborhood.

Just an FYI - just because one attends a Catholic school doesn't make one Catholic. I don't know what his "official" religion is, I know that he had a diverse upbringing spiritually (just from what I've read in various articles and who knows what you can believe), but I really don't care what his religion is either.

I don't get ALL of my information from Fox News. Ok, I get most of it from there, I'll admit that. But I've actually read quite extensively about this. I do know that his church follows the doctrine of the Black Liberation Theology. Getting back to Fox, he was on Hannity and Colmes and suggested that Sean Hannity read the works of "theologian" James Cone. I don't know if Hannity read them but I looked them up. And I suggest everyone look them up. But I have a huge issue with this. Do you really believe that a man that says that "the chickens have come home to roost" when referencing 9/11 is a good person? Do you really think that a man that says that America is responsible for the spread of the AIDS virus is someone that you should spend twenty years getting spiritual inspiration from? This is one of his many quotes on the subject - "We started the AIDS virus. … We are only able to maintain our level of living by making sure that Third World people live in grinding poverty." I don't care how much good the man has done, he's a racist and a hate-monger in my book.

Piper, Wright wasn't teaching "how to keep the man down". He was talking about how killing is killing, and that God doesn't recognize the death of innocent civilians in Iraq as anything different from killing innocent civilians. "This is funny coming from a guy that sits with his kids in the pews of a church listening to a guy who preaches about the "United State of White America". Do you think that Jim Crow laws and "3/5 of a person" laws were NOT racist??? "What we teach our kids today they will pass on." Exactly, and that is why Obama took his kids to a church where every member must be apart of an outreach program of some kind: helping the homeless, literacy programs, feeding the poor, helping AIDS/HIV patients, church services for prisoners, rehab for drug addicts, etc. As Colin Powell said just the other day, this church has done an incredibile amount for their community. If you could pull yourself away from Fox News and research the church as it really is, you would already know that.

If Obama says he is not a Muslim, why do we still need to have the conversation? As I've asked before, why is it such a potent political weapon to label a partisan foe a Muslim?

This is funny coming from a guy that sits with his kids in the pews of a church listening to a guy who preaches about the "United State of White America". What we teach our kids today they will pass on. Never ending cycle. Love. Unity. Things I think kids should be taught. How to keep the man down. Guess that's a lesson reserved for Sundays behind pulpits. To me, he's just not credible in the department of what we should teach our kids.

Stephley took the words out of my mouth! And he isn't Arab or Muslim. He went to a Catholic school for a little while in Indonesia, for goodness sakes. You have me cracking up! Auntie, do you disagree with him? Do you think that teachers should be the main source of disipline and character development in children?
Kimpossible Kimpossible 8 years
He's not the first public figure to tell parents this. I think, just for one example, Bill Cosby's been saying it alot longer.

You may want to look up the words Marxist, Xenophobic, Arab and Muslim in a dictionary. I don't think you're using them properly in reference to Senator Obama.

So Auntie, how much money did you contribute to the Obama campaign this year?

Considering that his books tell of his mother's absence from his life as a teenager, parents, if you don't parent, you could end up with a Marxist Xenophobic Arab Muslim running for POTUS. Considering that Time Magazine tells a different story from his books, parents if you don't parent, you could end up with a Marxist Xenophobic Arab Muslim running for POTUS. Questions? http://www.theobamafile.com has the answers. While reading, click on the highlighted links. Get educated about the truth Barach Hussein Obama, Jr, does not want you to know.
