Oh Snap! Red Sky at Morning, Aussies Take Warning

Sydney, Australia's Luna Park looks a little eerie against the glowing red sky. Thanks to a major windstorm, a gigantic dust cloud is blanketing the city, interrupting air travel and posing some health risks. At least it makes for some beautiful photographs.

I woke at 6am and my room was filled by this intense orange light. I looked outside and had no idea what was going on! It was a gorgeous sight. Not so much fun when you're coughing on the dust and rubbing it out of your eyes though.

It was actually red top soil from thousands of kilometres away. I thought it was a fire at 5am when we were woken up by eery sky. Still wiping up red dirt today! It sometimes gets swept across to the snowfields of New Zealand and they get red snow. That's global warming for you folks!

the pictures people posted on twitter yesterday were crazy. it seems the pics you posted were taken later in the day because the ones i saw the sky was a really deep red.
